really does sound that oxygen sats you mention are ricks own breathing at 75% (ideal is aproaching 100%) 45% is not good but i remember mine post op at 45% including oxegen mask. considering what he has been through 75% is very good sign.

Hi fsdss, just read the thread and i am so glad that Rick is recovering.

You have really been a tower of strength to him and the family. The people on here are truly lovely and it warmed my heart to read all the kind wishes.

Sending you positive thoughts and i will say a prayer for Rick tonight.

    Update

rick's still the same no change i cant go the hospital today or tomorrow as the eldest is back to school and little one at home- but have sent him a kiss with mum. my oh is visiting on the way back from work.

cant believe the auction is £11. Grrrrreat

i had a thought though on the auction i'll run it by you peeps first.

my thoughts are that on reflection i should have sold drops of blood for pennies i.e 50p. but then i thought that if i contact a couple of our celeb mates then i might be able to raise more - i know that one would be willing as his wife had a lot of blood during the birth of their daughter and i know he gives blood anyway and i'm pretty certain that i could get him to do that with an email picture to winning auction bidders of him actually doing it. another one i was thinking of (who i just know socially through mutual friends) i think i could persuade through his wife. there is another one i know but he's away filming so i have sent him a facebook and email message telling him about Rick (as he knows Rick) and when he replies or rings i will ask (actually tell ) him to donate blood for charity. perhaps i am a bit pushy but then if it takes off and is successful we could do a lot more for other hospitals / charities. then again i could always pm martin :money:, who unfortunately i dont know .

    what do you think?

I think selling the idea about more donations is a better idea, as whilst I have bid, I am at my limit and can't afford to donate anymore really ......

but if say you had 15 people willing to donate blood for charity, and you say got £15 for each one that would be better than folk stopping at say £20 for the one lot......

    Just a thought

oh and by the way I think you have done a great job of holding everyone together love to you and your family x 0 x 0 x
    2007 £1749
    2008 £291.99
    2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.99

I think its a great idea - you may find that when you speak to your friends they have expereince of helping with fundraising and have tips and hints to increade your chances of making money for the family area at the hospital. I am sure they would be more than happy to help - esp if it is local to them. Why not try and get your efforts to fundraise a helping hand from the local paper (perhaps better to leave this until Rick is much better). There are lots of ways to raise money and I am sure with some careful planning you'll find the best way for you guys.

I used to give blood, but can't at the moment. However I mentioned this thread to OH last night and he is going to suggest to his work that they get the mobile blood bank to visit them. I hope this will raise the importance of blood donation.

you are amazing - keep smiling and we'll keep thinking and praying for you and Rick x

these are both great ideas, i'll have a conflab with my friends and see what they can do - as one of you say - 2 of them know a lot more about fund raising than me so i'll tweak their brains for ideas
