Good morning my lovelies and a Happy St Patrick's Day to you all 💚. xx
I'm up, made my bed, contemplated life from my bedroom window (it's raining), opened windows in the bathroom and my bedroom, completed Wordle and Connections, and supped my first brew.
I'm still very discombobulated. Wondering if I'm actually depressed and not recognising it. Fog. Fog. Fog. DS came yesterday to tell me that DF's dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It's early stage and treatable ... but not the news that anyone wants to hear. And breathe...
Brew 2 next. Join me?

Morning all. Hugs Round, I don't think this constant rain helps.
YSL - why not give the new group a trial run. They may be the friendliest group you've ever met or the pace might be too much for you, but you won't know till you try.
So far today I have done my exercises, made a chocolate cake for DH (I will decorate it later) and prepared the fruit salad for my breakfast which I'm now eating.
Obviously further gardening is out of the question today and Poppet may have a very long wait for her walk, so I'll probably keep on with the level ones.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all.
Quiet here, very unusual. S-i-L has taken the DGC out, DD1 working all weekend. Just OH, me and one rather smelly collie! I
My surname has eleven letters. When we lived in England, I would say "it's spelt just how it sounds", that of course no longer works now we are in Wales! So I have to spell it out every time.
@Asparklierblonde, glad you enjoyed your trip to Blackpool. We lived on the outskirts for seven years, then another eight in Lytham-St-Annes. Blackpool is possibly the most deprived town in England, lovely to visit, but once away from the sea front, not so nice. Three of our children are "sand grown", a term for children born on the Fylde coast.
Flying wise, must load the DW. Think about what to make for tea. Read my book, about self sufficient gardening. Check on seeds/seedlings. That's enough for a Sunday.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
Morning all
Yes @mumtoomany, away from the front is a very different story. I took them to Morecambe last year, which was similar but worse as it didnt have the "pizazz" that Blackpool still has in many ways. I was tempted to drive further on the Lytham as I have heard it's lovely, is that the case?
I have SO MUCH TO DO IT'S UNTRUE.
Round, I will join you in that cuppa. As Jazee says, this weather really doesn't help and I think you are very routine driven. When I have time off work, I need a very set routine all day and a clear task list, otherwise I feel aimless. Sending you hugs xx
Right, time to make my bed. Fire is already lit, I am going to light the living room one as well, its just so damp and icky outside. Take care all xx8 -
oh I love Blackpool…but then I use to live so close by. We used to have days out to Fleetwood…far less expensive for a poor working mum to take her 3 girls.
I am in the ‘marzipan’ club too.
Surnames. The one i have now I kept because it matches the kids, The one i was born with was ridiculously common in Lancashire, where we grew up, and is a Lancashire surname. When we moved here a teacher asked me to spell it and my reaction was ‘are you kidding?’ as no-one had ever asked me to spell it before. My mum’s maiden surname was ridiculously rare though, although a bearer of her name founded a well-known military encyclopaedia, which still bears his name…you would all know the name as a common forename!

Morning all,
Damp and icky here too. The brief appearance by a blue sky yesterday morning made such a difference. Although it did mean that indoor flying got put on the back burner. So that’s this morning sorted, then. That is so true, ASB - I need a routine, or have to create a routine, otherwise I am very good at being aimless and then frustrated that I have wasted precious time. To my detriment, I then use any routine as a reason why I can’t do something different - I really am my own worst enemy!
CoG - my DH used to bring me back those hefty chunks of chocolate covered marzipan that you can get in Mr W. He once got stopped at the border for carrying suspicious goods that looked like ammunition - it was all my marzipan!YL - hugs, we are very similar, but you are still way braver than me on the social front. And definitely way fitter! As Jazee says, maybe give the new group a trial go, and duck out if it is all too much.
So, flying? Yawn, yawn - s&s bathroom, clean kitchen a bit, sort out fridge, meal plan to include all the extra veg that we harvested yesterday, do a couple of online orders for things that I have been waiting for the free delivery / other offers to come around on. Knit some more of my sock now that I’ve finally got the pattern sorted in my head, and finish my latest library book - that’s flying isn’t it?
Have a restful day, my lovelies. Hugs, sticks and spoons available, kettle is on xx7 -
Aimless. That's exactly the word. I've been aimless all week. I did need some down time (as in to decompress not to be miserable) but it mired me instead of inspired me.
Work might be 💩 but it gives me a solid routine. Good lesson to be learning ahead of retirement.
I've supped brew 2 and eaten breakfast. Read a chapter of my book. And put some underwear on the radiators to dry as I was switching on the heating.
Round 1
Laundry shuffle
Get dressed
Close windows
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
WUDUPA pots and pans
That'll do for starters.
Smile 😃. Anyone in touch with Mademoiselle?

@YORKSHIRELASS I agree with Jayzee. It might, in fact do your confidence the world of good.@roundtuit sorry to hear about DF's dad. Good that it is treatable though. Spoons and hugs in abundance coming you way (and some marzipan). It took me ages to get to sleep last night as I kept thinking about our Hull conversations. And then I remembered the comment by @pigpen about giving biscuits to someone to tempt them back to the thread and I laughed out loud again - and it must have been about 2 am!Went to the 08.30 and bought A's paper on the way back. I am now trying to galvanise myself to do the final tidying up and start on the lunch. I"m not feeling very motivated though....... Thank goodness I forced myself to make the trifle last night (although I still have to whip the cream for the top).Hope everyone has good day. I will report back later. I foresee mucho washing up for me!8

Hi, @Asparklierblonde. Lytham was always known as a retirement town. Lovely if you like to sit on the beach, or take a stroll through gardens. Not so good if you need to have a job, or want to visit the cinema, go swimming etc. ( At least when we were there twenty something years ago) We left as it was going into decline. It became a sinking ship, several big local employers closed down/relocated. We became rats, and went while we could. Lots of lovely big houses though, the last one we owned had 13 bedrooms!

Me again. Sorry about the size of the photo. I'm dressed, dailies are done except putting recycling out and I've cleaned all the mirrors in the house. Poppet is hanging around begging for her walk!
