I spent just over an hour in the garden but have made some difference. I'm going to find another book now and relax for the rest of the day.Spend less now, work less later.8

@pigpen I agree, it's more interesting to have an unusual name, although no one can ever spell mine. It's not particularly difficult imo. As it's unusual I always spell it as if people guess they almost always get it wrong, and even when I have spelled it they often get it wrong. lol
After lunch I washed up and then put the towels in to wash and put out fresh ones. The kettle arrived and fortunately he brought them up - I haven't had an opportunity to take them out of the box yet. The shirts and bedding then came back from the laundry and I put those away. I then gave the bathroom a thorough clean and am now having a coffee and the penultimate slice of the reduced M&S Christmas cake.

Whoops, did I forget to post this morning? I thought about it…
Loving all the chat - never been to Hull or the environs, but it’s still interesting to read. I’m thinking of upping sticks to CoG’s place, as I am one of those who will gorge on a block of marzipan. And as for surnames, don’t start me - from an old English maiden name that I constantly spelt to a misspelt Italian one (FiL had it misspelt for him at immigration in the 50’s when he arrived, so the misspelling had to stick), that I also constantly spell out. This morning, DH and I braved a trip to the allotment. It wasn’t in as bad a state as I had feared. I have given him a list for starters, just in case he has a spare hour or two whilst I’m at work 🤣. Came home with leeks, parsnips, celeriac and spinach, so overall a productive visit. I whizzed around downstairs with the vacuum cleaner, hung some washing inside and some outside. Brought the washing in just now as it started to rain. I’ve also been in the back garden, and the green bin is now full, ready for Tuesday’s collection. Ta-da!Nice to see you on the Slow Living thread, Valli. I’m trying really hard to absorb some of the vibes from there. It’s work in progress,5 -
That should have been 'kettle bells arrived', not kettle - mind you , we do need a new kettle.@Fayolle marzipan seems to be one of those love it or hate it things. I absolutely love it and could live on it I think. A lot of bought marzipan has only 25% or so almonds but if I can find one with 40 - 50% that's good. When I make it myself I use 50% almonds. I love those Anthon Berg chocolate covered marzipan discs with fruits and alcohol. I've only ever seen them at airports and in one shop, fortunately nowhere near me. They do sell them on Amazon but I only get them now again as a treat because I tend to eat the box far too quickly and they are also expensive. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anthon-Berg-Marzipan-Chocolate-Flavours/dp/B08QYTPXW9/ref=sr_1_47?content-id=amzn1.sym.306fc632-b708-44a1-b889-4a72bb15bd0a:amzn1.sym.306fc632-b708-44a1-b889-4a72bb15bd0a&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.noLv9a8nYJKKcakaV_KXM0G59f0cgc--obCx6_6zIv9pe5Gb_Q1Gf4j6Y1iH9WMYlpjGpohXaM-L6AN9Gy6543tSdV_WKvPBNsiKhMvBAuCVwSbGCD9LC2_txiDtd-c7K81jpb3_ggQsKpwAMvMhdCSS8U4IO1su2W2tPbzFD-GHnsUjwuzz6V4L80fnVk06SD_2A_oHscf8HUTNFzQSBP_g8j7eSsp2W-srWBdPMMpD1lt3TQM76JAMHVHZxAafFoN7vxb3OTDFfYMzF-C4QdaST0ywrtDBnsdge2AGDNM.RiJP7QZVdhbaiWQIqMU-X4BH40mUe0vRBdwfjItTdN8&dib_tag=se&keywords=anthon+berg&pd_rd_r=464c685a-224e-4a53-8a49-b9498b44964a&pd_rd_w=9hmZu&pd_rd_wg=KjswU&pf_rd_p=306fc632-b708-44a1-b889-4a72bb15bd0a&pf_rd_r=HPDDSCYQH648XV7ZETVD&qid=1710611134&sr=8-47I don't know why that link is so long. After tea I washed up and then gave the kitchen a thorough clean, including the hob. I'm now waiting for the floor to dry to put everything back. I'd like to make the trifle after supper to save time tomorrow, and in case the custard goes wrong so I have the time to pop out and buy some. I'm not sure if I'll have the energy by then though. I've been on the go all day and still have supper to prepare and then the washing up to do. I wish my fairy godmother would come and wave her wand and make a lovely home made trifle appear in the fridge.

Hi all
I don't mind marzipan on a cake but not a huge fan otherwise. I could definitely eat a big slice of CandGs simnel cake though.
Not a bad day here, went to my Saturday volunteering then had bacon and eggs and went out on my bike. Managed 30 miles, not the fastest time but not too bad. The sun actually shone!
Dressing gown washed and dried outside, not much other flying done. I am volunteering again tomorrow morning as a one off, and we need to get some food shopping.8 -
Long day out today, I took the children to Blackpool. They LOVED it. I enjoyed people watching…
Fire lit, glass of cava and book in hand. I haven’t flown so can’t even pretend. Sleep well all xx8 -
You can all have my share of marzipan!
- went for lake swim; in double figures now (10.5) and lovely in the sun.
- went to L1dl on the way home
- sorted out all my seeds in the greenhouse; they are now all in a bag for each month they need sowing. February's indoor ones are sown....must sow Feb outdoor ones tomorrow and start on March indoor but it is so wet and has been cold so the greenhouse is full of overwintering plants.
- swept kitchen floor
- did some more of a report.
must check my reading for church tomorrow, hope it isn't too long or I'll have a coughing fit....Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
@Narc0lepsy hope there are no difficult names either!Asparklierblonde I'm really pleased you had a good time in Blackpool. It's donkey's years since I was there but I remember that it's a fun place to go for the day, especially for children. Do they still have the trams/trolley buses that go along the front?Supper made and washing up done. Trifle made and washing up done. Dining table cleared and new cloth put on and A's breakfast things put out. Just the final eye med to apply in a minute and then I can go to bed too. I try to go to the 8 o'clock anyway but tomorrow I will definitely have to as I will be tied up later, with A's relatives coming for lunch.Night all, sleep well.8

Morning all
Volunteering cancelled because it's raining - again. Secretly I am quite pleased, its one of those things that I had to say yes to but would rather have my Sunday off. We do need to go out and buy food.
I am dithering about joining a bigger cycling group but don't know if I am brave enough. It doesn't just involve mixing with people I don't know but also involves being able to keep up with other people on my bike. I have got an email address for someone to contact. I wish I had more confidence.
Enjoy the lunch today CofG hope it all goes well. Glad the kids enjoyed Blackpool ASB.I am going to Fly today but will also try to relax and enjoy my Sunday and not think about the paid stuff tomorrow. Hope Sunday is kind to you all, hugs sticks and spoons as needed x9
