Really hope Mr Cheery’s tooth is feeling better this morning…. Very much doubt there’ll be any bank holiday service from a dentist (have been there!).

I'd be tempted to phone 111.  They will be able to offer advice and/or identify where help may be available today.

    Thank you all xx

Our dentist's answerphone says to ring their sister practice. Their sister practice helpfully just has a message saying 'we are closed' 🙄 Rang 111 - they gave us a number which is presumably our own county's out of hours service - I've rung several times, and at one point was on hold for 45 mins before it automatically cut me off, and I've still not spoken to anyone. Even tried a couple of private dentists, but just been sitting supposedly in a queue until I've been automatically cut off.

He's swilling with salt water, as advised. Asprin was advised against, but that may have just been initially, will check. NHS111 sent a link to an advice sheet, which said helpful things like 'chew on the other side of your mouth' and 'see your dentist for treatment of toothache' (we're trying!!)

Anyway, I'm giving up for now, and going out to get soft food. He's not eating much, and taking lots of tablets, so need to get a bit of food in him. I'll keep trying the number 111 gave us, but I'm not actually convinced it's open 🙄 and even if it is, I can't imagine we'll get anything now 🙄 So he might just have to deal with it til our own dentist is open again tomorrow.

What a fiasco! I suppose we should be grateful we at least have a dentist 🙄

I always used to keep oil of cloves in the medicine cabinet for toothache.  Might be worth see if you can get some - there will probably be a pharmacy open somewhere - there's usually an emergency one around.  Could even try a supermarket although I think you've probably got the same problem as me in that you don't have a local one and have to drive to one!

Ha, yes, definitely need to drive to anywhere, but I've had to do that anyway. We've got some, I suggested it yesterday but the gum was so tender he was reluctant to put it on 🙄

Would he be able to cope with some on a cotton bud to dab on it or even on a cotton wool ball as wouldn't need to stay there?  Sometimes just that tiny bit can help!
