Cheery's path to fulfilment - finishing the DIY, looking after myself, appreciating the garden 🌻

Thanks Missy!
Mr Cheery had the offending segment of tooth removed and is on heavy duty antibiotics and a regime of painkillers. Been a bit of a washout of a day really with one thing and another 🙄 I did sit in a cafe to wait for him though, and fortuitously a friend lives just around the corner and was ble to join me for lunch, so that was nice 😊
Other than that, I've scythed another row, and finished wielding the IPL machine, and put the bins out... but what happened to the rest of the day? Who knows 🙄
Raining again now, and we are forecast heavy winds overnight which is vexing because I was kept awake last night with a branch banging on the window and I meant to lop it off and forgot 🙄 Never mind, I'm not getting back out of bed now for that 😂
I did do a small money-saving task today - finally fixed the strap on my sports watch (which I wear all the time) with a blob of superglue and a bit of elastic. I've been meaning to do the elastic for ages, and in the meantime have created another problem, which I hope the superglue will fix... Sadly it's not a replaceable strap, but utoob has it that there is an option to fudge a replacement from the strap of a different sports watch, so I've ordered one of those for £4.67 in case my haphazard repair doesn't work.
I did buy the watch second hand for £30 two years ago so it's done its duty 😂 but I would like to prolong its life if I can!
I need a plan tomorrow to prevent another day of drifting... 🙄4 -
Plan for Friday...
MORNING
* swimming 10am
* washing on
* quick tidy round
* text friends re plans for weekend
AFTERNOON
* hairdresser 1pm
* (might nip to the library while I'm in town)
* get two batch cooked meals in the freezer
* lay flippin tiles!!
* 15 mins decluttering in bedroom (I've nearly got another bag of clothes/shoes for the charity shop)
* 1 row scything
EVENING
* set up regular savers
* investigate bank switch for Mr C
* blog post
* flute practice
That'll do. I really do want to get those tiles done as a priority so other things might shift.5 -
Honestly, will I ever have a realistic assessment of what it's possible to do in a day, or am I destined to be forever over-planning and underachieving?! 🙄😂
Needless to say I did NOT get done most things on my list 🙄

😂😂 swimming and hairdresser were in different towns - I planned to come home in between but in reality would have been in for less than an hour, so went straight from one to the other, and did a couple of errands too.
Finally got home at 3pm and Mr Cheery was feeling slightly better and wanted to go out 🙄😂 Having been less than sympathetic to his toothache yesterday I was feeling the need to make up... so off we went. Got back in about 7pm, and have been pottering, cooking (but just tea, not batch cooking), and then spent quite a bit of time with my new hoover attachments tackling the cobwebby bedroom and landing, which are now looking and feeling delightful. So I suppose that could count as 'decluttering' 😂
Arranged to meet up with friends tomorrow near Mr Cheery Snr's House, and apparently we're taking him along too for lunch, so there's been some messing in relation to that this evening.
So no plans for tomorrow, but on Sunday I will definitely LAY THOSE FLIPPIN TILES!! 😂😂6 -
Hoovering cobwebs and making a space look delightful definitely counts as decluttering!
Your lists are always lengthy but I think they also spur you on to get a lot done - you always seem very productive!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Anyway, what I'm currently doing is lying in bed when I should be getting dressed!6 -
I love your lists. Always hopeful! And well done on the 1km swim!4

I think we all have unrealistic ideas of what can be achieved in a certain timeframe and I always forget to factor in downtime. So when I get fed up and need a rest, I FEEL I am being unproductive, when actually I am recharging …. perhaps I would view it more positively if I attached a cable to myself …. 🤔😉😂

I saw a friend the other day, she was asking about my month off. I said I felt like I hadn't done much, but was definitely well rested - which she did point out was a big aim of a month off 😂 (she also suggested I have a night or two away by myself as a little adventure, so I am plotting to see if I can squeeze that in before I go back).
Not today though! Adventures of a different kind today (and I am hoping 6 hours in the car will let me finish my audio book before it is zoomed back to the library!)5 -
Gosh, today is a long one! We have had a nice lunch though - met with Mr Cheery's childhood friend and his wife. We see them quite often, but they happened to be up near Mr Cheery Snr's house, so we took him out for lunch too, and there was some telling of boyhood stories, and a nice lunch was had, so that was cheerful.
Other than that though... Some administrative tasks need doing here, Mr Cheery still has toothache and is wearing a suit, and those things combined mean he isn't doing any cleaning... So I will be having a bath and an early night when I get home... 🙄
Hoping we can leave fairly soon. I'm driving both directions today so very glad to not be going to work tomorrow!6 -
Well, I am home and feeling rather more chipper, thank goodness. Still planning on an early night (can't even be bothered with a bath
)
Not making any plans for tomorrow except GETTING THE TILES LAID - if you see me back in here and I haven't done that do feel free to wag a finger!8
