Thanks Watty, we had a lovely time!
Time is just slipping away here at the minute 😮 But new job excitement is ramping up. I've arranged to speak to two people I know who work at the organisation on Monday. I'm nowhere near finishing my application though, want to focus on that over the weekend
Mr Cheery is poorly, just a cold I think but sounds quite rough. I'm keeping my distance - not got time to be ill myself!
Right, back to work. Got to leave on time today as I'm off to a candle making workshop with some local chums 😊 could do with a free evening actually but we booked a while back and it will be nice to see them 😊6 -

Mr Cheery has my sympathies as I am currently resembling Rudolph.

Ick - sorry to hear Mr Cheery has a cold! - distance is a good thing to avoid the plague! - My OH is under the weather as well - napping for 4 hours a day for the past 5 days - I'm steering clear as well!

Thank you all for the sympathy for Mr Cheery. It'll top him up nicely as my sympathy is admittedly wearing off a bit 😬
Candlemaking workshop was a nice calm way to spend an evening 😊 And then we had a night out last night watching our friends' band, although it was a late one so not much activity for me this morning, and Mr C didn't emerge from the spare room til I went and retrieved him at 1.30pm.
We decided to cancel tonight's planned visitors - a shame but Mr C wasn't really in the mood for either entertaining or preparations. Disappointing, but it's given me a good chunk of the day for my job application.
Have also done a flylady home blessing hour (with the podcast) this evening, so the place feels a little more spruced up.
Got the whole day tomorrow - absolute priority is job application. I want a full draft tomorrow, ready for just a final read/small edits after speaking to insiders on Monday. Would like to submit Tuesday night at the latest.
Our friend is coming to do some work for us on Monday - I'm at work all day but he's going to stay over and work Tuesday too. Mr C is out Monday evening (depending on illness, of course) so I'll be entertaining.
Anyway, blah blah blah. List for tomorrow:
* job application!
* compost out
* do some flippin exercise (actually, I might book a swimming session first thing to get me up and out)
* flute practice
* get bed ready for visitor
That'll do, I think.9 -
Morning chums 😊
Swimming was fully booked so I ended up in a spin class instead 😮 Spent an hour with the IPL machine and now I'm just sticking some washing on to take advantage of the low agile 🐙 prices, and then I'm going to have a luxurious daytime bath and catch up on my happy wheel offers.
Managed to catch a decent Prolific survey yesterday so I'm up to £21.50 for December now. My annual review informs me I'm at £40 in total for the year (!) So clearly I need to pay more attention!!
Then it'll be job application all the way for the rest of today. Want a full proper draft by tonight.
I'm at work events all week this week. Three days in a hotel (not staying, just in the day) and a different event on Thursday. It'll be nice to have a change of pace, although I have plenty to do around the edges of what I'm actually meant to be doing there. Thursday is my last day, which I am very much looking forward to!13 -
Morning Chums 😊
Today is all about finishing the job application! Yes, this is MSE-related, because between a pay rise and going back to working full time it would be an increase of about £1000 a month 😮 Definitely worth doing. Although I have yet to decide whether to ask to continue at 4 days a week - will ponder that more if I get an interview.
I did have a couple of useful conversations with people in the organisation yesterday though, including a very encouraging one with the relevant department, so that has spurred me on.
Friend is here doing a couple of days of work for us. Spent yesterday on the (single storey) roof of the extension, trying to sort out the damp wall of the living room. Looks like there was effectively a small bog garden growing up there, water trapped under various bits of roof with plants growing happily in their own little boggy ecosystem 🙄 from the photos it looked quite pretty 😂 but I suspect removing it will have made quite a difference to the wall.
He's going to make some adjustments to gutters today, and try and get more water flowing away from the house (always a good thing). There's no actual proper drainage over there, which might need dealing with longer term - maybe if I get my new job!
(Which I'm not going to get if I sit here talking to you all morning!)
No particular reason to spend anything today I don't think, at event all day with food provided and then focusing on job form this evening.

I would ask about working 4 days at the point of offer, not before! 😉
If they seem reluctant, you could offer to do compressed hours in the 4 days?Wow to the roof ecology … Yes, that would definitely cause damp! 😂😉 Getting that sorted will make a huge difference to living conditions inside 😊
