Good vibes heading your way for the application Cheery - I think only you can work out the balance of whether the money or the headspace is more valuable to you, around the 4 or 5 day working week!
I should think that clean up of the roof would make a difference - it will be interesting to see how fast you see it, too!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks all 😊
No, I definitely won't be asking about 4 day weeks unless an offer is forthcoming. I just want to be prepared and have thought properly about it by that point so I'm not making a snap decision.
I do love my 3 day weekends! 🥰🥰 But a year or so of full time might be a nice cash injection for sorting out some more house projects. I don't think I'd do it as compressed hours - I often end up working 8-6 or 9-7 anyway even at 4 day weeks so compressing even more hours into that would be ridiculous 🙄 Anyway, food for thought, but the priority is getting the actual form done! Just over an hour left here and then will continue tonight...10 -
Actually I disagree Cheery having done both. What you are actually doing is working full time ATM but being paid on a four day basis. I originally did compressed hours as I knew I'd be expected to get the same amount of work done and would end up doing unpaid overtime. In a different role I knew that four days meant four days. It's really difficult to know in advance what is expected of you in those hours. A friend is now going to do a nine day fortnight in compressed hours, just slightly longer days.

Thanks Peb. You're right, of course. Technically my hours are planned with set amounts for set tasks over the year, although obviously that rarely matches reality - so in this case in my current job, working full time would equal more tasks. New job might be slightly less managed in the same way, being more senior. But there are other reasons why this year in particular has ended up involving more work than planned.
Anyway, probably best if I don't start ranting too much about that on here!
Had a very long lie in this morning, and plenty of sleep, and am feeling marginally more human, althoughi do have a slight sore throat and a sniffle which I am choosing to ignore. Mr C is still feeling utterly rotten, and is curled on the sofa under a blanket. We had 3 friends due to stay tomorrow night after my band concert, but two have said they'd rather not be in the house with him. Quite understandable especially just before Christmas. A shame, but it does at least mean changing less bedding!
Other friend is coming anyway, so at least I'll still have some company 😊
I nipped out to collect prescription earlier, and tried to start Christmas shopping, but didn't get to town til 4pm, and all I bought was a new diary for myself 🙈 I did have a lovely solo cafe trip though, very much needed, and started filling in my goals book for next year 😊
Home now, need to do a bit of practicing before tomorrow's concert and a little tidying, although I might save that for the morning now we only have one visitor, not three.12 -
Afternoon chums 😊
Urgh. My sore throat waxed and waned throughout each day, getting better after I woke up and had a drink, and steadily worse towards bed after a lot of talking... Today it's so rotten I'm wondering about tonsillitis 😕 Completely unfair as I had my tonsils removed as a child because of repeated ear infections - I never had tonsillitis until they grew back (!!!) in my 20s 😱 Had it several times since!
Anyway, concert was lovely 😊😊 And it was nice to see my friend 😊 took her home yesterday, and on to another city, where I did a bit of Christmas shopping and then on to a little house party, and finally got home after 10. Gosh it was packed over there though 😮 Made me appreciate our little market towns!
Mr C didn't join me for any of these escapades, still feeling rough. I stuck my head around the door about 11 but he was fast asleep - he sleeps so badly I didn't want to wake him 😕
So. I am not ready for Christmas, got a couple of presents but not many. We are meant to be seeing Mr C's family tomorrow but don't want to go anywhere near his dad (87, with COPD) with any kind of infectious grimness, so given just my state this morning I suspect we'll cancel unless things considerably improve.
I'll have a shower, I think, see if the steam makes me feel a bit better, then we can make a plan for the day, even if that just involves acquiring enough milk to see us through the next few days.
Mr C did get the Christmas tree out of the loft yesterday, but neither of us has had the energy to put it up yet 🙄7 -
Oh Cheery I do hope you’re both feeling better soon. You may remember that my oft-used successfully trick for warding off tonsillitis is hot drinks swallowed as hot as you can bear - I’ve seen it off on a number of occasions by that method!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Candle making sounds lovely! Were they scented?
Hope the lurgy disappears quickDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
