Sympathies on the early train! I managed to avoid the commute today as due to flooding the trains were not running until noon!
The state of affairs with the tire people is dire! GP is entirely correct though that word of mouth will dissuade all of us from using them, so it's only doing themselves a disservice!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Try naming and shaming on any and all social media platforms. They are behaving dreadfully. I would also get an estimate on the damage to your lawn and send it too them.

I tend to find naming and shaming on FB, Twitter etc normally makes them sit up. I’d be posting the email offering you the £18 and popping a picture of your garden on !Sealed pot challenge 822

I can confirm that I would certainly be avoiding using Tyres on the Drive from Halfords after your experience. I do vaguely seem to recall somewhere that a company being repeatedly named on a forum such as this can make it more likely that they will come up on searches for anyone looking for reviews etc down the line, so for the record I will say again that Tyres on the Drive from Halfords seem like a pretty poor outfit if they are quite so unconcerned about their fitters causing damage to people's property through sheer stoopidity. (Dawny is right too - a bit of social media embarrassment does often seem to get results)
With our tip booking system there is a reciprocal arrangement with the next county (we're relatively close to the border) that we can use their tips (with a boking) and they can use ours on the same basis, so it might be that yours will do something similar?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

EH beat me to it about the reciprocal tip arrangements - we have them too (probably with your tip county EH, although that's not the border we're nearest). I think they're quite common.I think Tyres on the Drive need it pointing out that it's not a goodwill gesture, it's recompense for the damage done to your property!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Tyres on the Drive from Halfords need to accept that they are responsible for the damage to your property. Perhaps ask for details of their insurers? (Mind you Howarth Builders Merchants passed my details to their insurers and 12 months on still no sign of a repair to my drive wall despite them admitting liability, etc.)

Ha, thank you all for your dedication to the cause of avoiding people who are shoddy! 😂
I think part of the problem is I wasn't grumpy enough at the start. I went for the 'mistakes happen, but I'd really like to compensate the farmer' approach, hoping that being nice would encourage them to be nice but clearly I should have gone down the 'you have damaged my property and I want compensation' route 🙄
Hey ho.
Thanks for the info on reciprocal tip arrangements. I've not seen anything about it yet. So far the county we're actually in doesn't need registration, but then the one we go to didn't til the other day! I think we'll just keep going until they get their act together with automatic number plate recognition (probably not any time soon) or til someone stops us.
We don't have a kerbside glass recycling collection because we're down a small lane so we nip to the tip quite regularly.
Anyway, I'm at a conference and was having a brief break when the tech broke but it's fixed now, best concentrate!7 -

Except that we have 'the wrong postocode' and now have to travel another 10 miles to the 'nearest tip' in our area.
The two councils eac side of the border are already at loggerheads over the inter county bus that runs through my village, so there's no reciprocal tipping agreement (mainly because the in-my-council's-catchment-area-tip doesn't have a prebooking system but their workers can ask to see some ID/proof you live here... although in the 15 trips I did whilst clearing my mum's house out, they never once checked).

Urgh @fannyadams why can't things just be straightforward! We are going to just merrily carry on as usual until we are stopped, I think.
Long day today. Left at 7am, home at 7pm and straight out for dinner with neighbours. Very jolly 😊😊
Free day tomorrow, and I've made a bit of a list which I won't bore you with as it's late and I need to sleep! Am in bed but forgot to bring water up with me. Will I regret that? Possibly but I can't be bothered to do anything about it...9
