i pop to the library every week. i try and vary what i read. last weeks best book was ruth rendell 10 half stories, it was brilliantly written. such talent. this weeks favourite has been marina coles guilty. i wasnt expecting much as i find her books very repetative, but this one was different and had lots of layers to it!

    I really enjoyed Wintering.
I like it too, I have been dipping in and out of it, but I'm about to finish it this afternoon.

I think it was there that she mentioned the book The Wolves of Willoughby Chase and I bought that to read on kindle as I remember reading that at school.

fyi - I do believe I had posted about getting him indoors a copy of The Cheesemongers Tour de France.  He loves it.  Just in case anyone has similar cheesy leanings....

How's everyone getting on with their reading? Any new books received at Christmas? I received two book dates - DD got me these VGC secondhand wrapped mystery books from an online store and each came with a choc bar. Really good idea. One is Santa Montefiore and the other a Patricia Cornwell. They are on the pile still to read.

Having finished Becoming by Michelle Obama I'm now lending it first to DIL then MIL as it's a good read. What a woman. Finished The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender last night - bought for £1 at WI book table. Not sure what to make of it or how to review it tbh.

Now onto the third Simon Serrailler book by Susan Hill - The Risk of Darkness. Love the style of writing and all the characters so I'm back in my happy place. Think there are 12 in the series.

DH uses Spotify, so I get the 15 hours of audio books a month. I was gripped by Conclave, by Robert Harris, read by Roy McMillan, with its twists and turns. I would like to see the film.

I enjoyed the book Sully by Chesley B. Sullenberger, such a calm account by a highly skilled pilot, doing his job.

Enjoying More Birds by Jim Moir which OH bought me.  This is the follow up to Birds that OH got me last Christmas.

Not your standard read of course given that each page is a reproduction of one of Moir's paintings with a little blurb about the bird in question.  Sometimes relevant to the painting itself, sometimes to a particular bird (like the particular specimen that had a ridiculously large number of fleas).  I enjoyed his TV series about painting and have struggled to capture the look of many birds so it's nice to be able to sit and look and consider how he might have caught the personalities of them all.

He also bought me a Aronvitch Masquerades of Spring from the Rivers of London series but admitted that was because he wanted to read it.

Funny enough I was musing about this the other day and wondered if you had got it.
Glad to hear it went down well 😀
