Just read "The Marriage Portrait" by Madggie O'Farrell and really enjoyed it. We read "Hamnet" by her at book club but this is better

The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox is superb. It was the first book of hers I read, and I still occassionally think about it.

I'm currently reading Exodus by Peter F Hamilton, and Coming of Age by Lucy Foulkes, and listening to Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry. I've just moved house, so reading is in fits and starts at the moment....can't wait till I can relax and dedicate some proper time to my favourite hobby again.

Ooh. I'll have to look out for the Pat Barker one. Didn't realise it had been released.
Along simi!ar lines, there is the series about Penelope by Claire North. I've read  the first two and again the third is just out.
Added those three to my 'order from the library list'. I do like a good historical novel.

Slightly disappointed to find that at the start of The Voyage Home we've left Briseis and we're with Cassandra and Ritsa. It's still excellent, but I want to catch up with Briseis!

And yes, I should have said it's part 3 of a Trilogy.

Spotted Conclave by Robert Harris on 'books for £1' table. It's not too long, so I've now got two books to keep me up at night ...

Have just finished Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. Poignant, funny, dark, sad. I enjoyed it.

Now reading Anne of Green Gables - beat that for a change of pace/genre!!

I read the complete Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear, from the library. I got an armful from our town library and ordered the rest to be collected from the nearest branch library just over the county boundary. We have to pay for reserved books in our county but they don’t. Renewing them online and returning them promptly avoids expensive fines.
I am reading Edward Marston’s Ocean Liner series from the library now. The last two are going to cost 50p each to reserve, but they will be delivered to our village library.
I get through a book most days, especially audio books.
I bought the complete works of D L Sayers from Amazon Kindle for 38p yesterday. Kindle on my IPad will “read” a chapter at a time. I used to read them on Open Library. I should have read the reviews, it was far from complete.

    This might interest you @Coxy11

what a coincidence!  A friend just reported having seen the movie and was saying how good it is.  I'd never heard of Conclave and now that's twice the same day!!

It's a good book, helpful if you have some knowledge of the Catholic church but not essential.
