I was recommended a book on another forum. Extinction by Douglas Preston. I'm about 15% in but it isn't really grabbing me. It is a similar plot line to Jurassic Park. It was free on kindle unlimited anyway.

I have a ticket for a book signing event tonight in Waterstones in London. Mark Edwards, Lisa Jewell and Victoria Selman will be there.

I think I'm going to keep Kindle Unlimited when the free trial is over as it does seem worth the money.

I have three library books to pick up. I decided to try Where the Crawdads Sing as I keep reading good reviews about it online..
How much is the monthly charge for Kindle Unlimited, please, @Wednesday2000 ?  I’m wondering whether it’d be a good Christmas present for my MIL.  (She has a Kindle Fire device.)  TIA.

I’ve recently finished reading The Masquerades Of Spring by Ben Aaronovitch.  It’s another book in his Rivers of London series but, this time, set in 1920’s New York and narrated by a gentleman who moves in a similar set to Bertie Wooster and uses the same slang.

Unlimited is less than £10 a month. I think it is good value if you read a lot. I did just get another Frieda McFadden book from Unlimited - The Coworker.

I'm reading a Ruth Ware book at the moment - One Perfect Couple. I have read all of her books.

I find Kindle Unlimited very good value as I read very quickly so get through a lot of books in a month.

Hard to know with MIL now. She used to be a voracious reader… Now?  Who knows.  I think she’s getting a bit befuddled, but my opinion doesn’t count.  (We don’t see her as often as we used to.  My SIL moved her 120 miles away, to be closer to SIL and now we get the guilt trips from SIL instead.  Family politics.)

    Humph!

Bit like parent, who is getting on a bit. She used to read a lot on her Kindle, but I’m not sure I last the last time I saw her with a book on it.
Now she just picks up ones from the charity shop every now and then.

My OH has helpfully pointed out that Richard Osman has a new book out.  And that there's time to get a copy.  Before we go on holiday.  For his birthday.  What, oh what shall I do????

:D  Well, do you have anything else for him?

I'm still holding out for finding it in the charity shops, for us and for MiL.

If you've already got something else for him, might be worth seeing if you can get it from the library for him, but the timing might not work out well.

Nowt else for him but having just returned from Canada where a charity shop there had a wealth of vinyl (aka LPs) which I purchased he can't be upset if I get him nothing for his birthday.  He also got an excessive amount of cigars, hand selected by a shop owner from Nicaragua - she even gave him a freebie which she herself smokes.

I'll see if I can find him a pair of socks.........

Well after wondering what all the hype was about, I've just finished reading The Housemaid and OMG what a page turner!😮 I haven't gotten that sucked into a book in a while. So much so I've got the next 2 books on my list to read.

I'll admit, I'm a physical book girl only..... however I was offered a 3 month subscription to kindle unlimited for free, so it would have been rude not to accept that offer 🤷‍♀️

I downloaded The Housemaid and read it in 2 days..... and have now downloaded the other 2 books.
