I'm enjoying the Revd Richard Coles' series: The Canon Clement mysteries. I listen to them on aud%ble and they are brilliantly narrated by the author. They are definitely cosy autumn evening stories.1

Well, do you have anything else for him?
I'm still holding out for finding it in the charity shops, for us and for MiL.
If you've already got something else for him, might be worth seeing if you can get it from the library for him, but the timing might not work out well.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -

TBH I'm not a fan of some books being turne into films.... don't know how I feel about that. The actors the cast are usually completley different to how I have imagined them in mey head when readingPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%2 -
I’ve just finished The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. It had been on my list for ages so I was pleased to find a copy for £1 in a CS. It’s a tome of a book, and quite harrowing in places. Reminded me of A Little Life in intensity. Now reading another £1 purchase from the WI book table - Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason. Quite a quick read and enjoying it so far.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings1

I found that there are several hours of audio books a month with DH’s subscription to Spotify.
I enjoyed listening to Harriet Walter reading her book, “She Speaks!”2 -
I just discovered I'd bought two books on Kindle, and completely forgotten about them! In my Shared Reading group, our facilitator orders us all books through the library (which is where we meet), and we're part way through 'The Maid' by Nita Prose. I have that and its sequel. I suspect I bought the first one because I knew I'd have to miss a week, but I borrowed one of the library copies to keep up (OK, OK, I finished it!). They were both quite cheap so I think I just went for it. Not sure I dare read book 2 before we finish book 1, I shall get very confused!
I've got The Voyage Home by Pat Barker on order from the library. Story of the Trojan war from the point of view of the women. Very good, looking forward to the final instalment!Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
Ooh. I'll have to look out for the Pat Barker one. Didn't realise it had been released.
Along simi!ar lines, there is the series about Penelope by Claire North. I've read the first two and again the third is just out.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about kindle unlimited. I have the offer of a two month free trial - does it really cover all the books on there?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -

The Voyage Home is the third part of a trilogy, which was recently released as a boxed set. The other two books are The Silence of the Girls and The Women of Troy. I’ve heard good things about them.

It's still a good deal for free though to be honest. I've gotten the housemaid series free with it so I'm happy lol.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%2
