  • Unless asked then I dont think I would comment about spending and then if it can be done cheaper. Look at my thread Ive gone overboard this month. As long as I can calm down a bit and not continue long terms then whats the harm in a bit of retail therapy? Although if Im still in overdrive in Sept then please please tell me to calm down!! Got my camping fridge today that I have been pineing (sp) over for over a year.

With Alfie I think you are an experienced DFW expecially after your blip last year to know what you can really afford so there muct have been some leeway in your budget even if he does add a few months on wont he be worth it?

Cant believe the fuss over IAs post. She just needs a break but people are making it worse. 2 kids, 2 part time jobs and partner to keep a relationship going at the same time, budgeting, studying, other family, house work and a life in between .........phew exhasted just typing it.

thanks all just done the first bit of the cushion...ironed, traced transfer, sandwiched wadding & calico and done a first bit of stitching...its not perfect but lovely cols...
Re the spending..I dont think I'm out of control but know I havent paid off as much as I could in last few months. Guess what I was saying is that I want people to say when I am spending on tat! Some things are about balance but part of spending time on here is being a dfw and all that entails..and if I keep spening its wont ever be paid off! While it is ultimately my decision what I spend on I do think there are limits so feel free to say "whoa"...I'd rather that than people sit there saying "she got what for how much?"!!!!! To me thats what a good friend is - someone who cares enough about me to say stop, thats enough...people are different & I'm intersted now t know my regular diarists view on me being open with them? I'm not sure I could just sit & say oo thats nice when I think youre making a mistake tbh but in saying that I would want people to say if they disagreed or wanted me to myob!
How you doing today lt? huggles for you!
ss do ou mea a patchwork? ie lots of pieces togeather? i did start wantingto do one of those but I love the simplicity of the welsh one & wonder whether i can combine the two...def sommat to look for as it will take me months, if not years, to make but will be precious & an heirloom...! ill enjoy the research though!

Yes, I especially like the logcabin ones, I thought by saving some of his wee shirts then I could make something to remind me of when he was young and sweet! He's growing up so fast. I do like the welsh stuff though, actually I love most stuff like that.:o
I can understand why you bought a pack for your first go though so it's not a waste - sometimes when you are trying new stuff it's easier to start that way and then when you have more experience you'll know how to do it yourself more cheaply (hope you know what I mean).;)

  • I used to make log cabin ones as well. I have a lovely one saved, from when the children were younger..it has their gingham dresses in..aww, and snippets of walking day dresses and a bit of Thomas the Tank as well.

  • Also wanted to add i only lob turnips..but if you ever felt the urge to have one lobbed in your direction.........:D In a nice way..:rotfl:

I wouldn't really..your budget is yours..and you know what needs to be done, just as i do..I cant see why anyone needs to comment in unhelpful ways..it is beter to be done in a constructive but nice way. My tuppence worth..well as it is DFW, my 1p worth:rotfl:

Lemon tree, i hope your dad feels better soon. Thyroid problems are awful until they are settled with medication. I am sure once he gets the right dose he will feel great. it is also stressful on the run up to weddings, try and get some rest yourself and hope it all works out for you..on the day you will be wondering what you were worried about.

Morning debtbusters! Re the budgets maybe its just a personal thing but as I said I would prefer if me regulars said (nicely of course) you seem to be spending a awful lot...
Still debating re sewing machine having said that. They have a reasonable on on the argos website and unsure whether I should hold out for a cheaper one...anyone know owt about sewing machines?!!
today I plan to have a quietish day...allotment later (sun shining here..at last) and doing all the joyful things of life such as litter trays...plus some cooking as want to try my sw curry thing...will report back. Havent had a geat week that way as just not planned enough...

  • Re the sewingmachine

1)have you got enough spare cash?
2)would you use it this time?
3)if you do use it it is likely to be moneysaving by all the lovely things you could make and use as unque presents so worth it if the answer to the first two questions are yes.

Have a good day at the allotment and with your cooking session.

If you do buy from argos I think topcashback are giving 3% at the moment whereas it's only 1.5% on quidco.
