Well the time has come to put the old diary to bed and start afresh in a wipe the slate clean kind of way. Last year didnt go as well as I would have liked on the debt busting front. Partly due to £600 vet & £600 boiler bills...I am obviousy jinxed by the number £600!
So I start the year theoretically just under £29,000 and the aim this year is to pay the CC's off and then its just the loans. Neither loan can be overpaid & they are front loaded so no point paying off early so I may just try & pay one off early for the psychological benefit of doing so! Meanwhile savings will sit in my account after the CC's paid off.
Applied for a 0% card but unsure if I'll get it! If not will plug away at the CC's, highest first, until they're gone!
New year also sees the start of getting back on track with smoking, drinking & excercise. I did really well last year & lost over 4 stone, gave up smoking & drinking (the latter two went hand in hand for me!) but have slipped recently and want to get things back in control. My new Garmin forerunner & I will therefore be plodding slowly although dont hold your breath for a marathon anytime soon! I also joined a book group & womens running network to try & get out cheaply and in the hope that I'll get the balance of being with others and also with time on my own (which I need or I get grumpy!).
Other ways of boosting income will be babysitting, surveys, comps and generally spending as little as possible & being as disciplined as people like taxi! One of the main areas where there could be improvement is the food budget as I do have a tendency to chuck in treats like wine which add to the bill, although my brain forgets it at the time!
So there you go. New year (almost!) new start! All encouragement, kicks up bum and generally chat grateully apprecited along the way!
