*loves Rage and feels better about spending*
is HIGLY !!!!ed with her self tho, since the six quid on her virgin card has cost her 74p this month interest! and it will just keep going up till April. SO ANGRY cos there is no way round it! if I move the money its just going to incurr a bt fee and if I put it on my overdraft that runs up interest. will just have to deal with being a stupid person!

Hi Buffy
Whoa whoa..........Us? Disappointed with you?......no of course we're not, not at all...you silly sausage...wot are you like :rotfl: ....I for one am really proud of you and what you've achieved over the last few days.
For what it's worth, I would call the furniture a sensible balanced decision too.....you know that the quickest way to get debt free is to stay at your mums and stick at your job, so you have made a trade off on the actual month of being debt free to make staying there a little more comfortable for yourself...and also improve working conditions by being able to work from home more....
That's what we call a win/win. Don't forget there is always a compromise made in order to achieve a win/win and you have achieved a situation that has least negative and most positive impact for you and your goals in your current situation
(Shame there was nothing on freecycle....but again, at least you tried.)
As for the £6 on the Virgin card........well I always think that good decisions come from experience.....but experience only comes from naff decisions....and I've made a few of those in my time!
So you've made what I would term a "slight error of judgement" and now unfortunately are experiencing the financial implications..all I can offer is my best salesman's positive pitch ..thank goodness it was only £6 and not £266!!....and after all, you're not going to do it again in a hurry are you?
So as the saying goes.......to err is human....to forgive divine........
Therefore divine Buffy, you can now draw a line under it, stop beating yourself up.......(or Beech the guinea pig might have something to say......;) )...and you can now stride forward with renewed debt-slaying vigour.
Atta girl....well done....Glad to see you making great progress...and I'm now eagerly awaiting future instalments. So what's next thing to sort out?
Big hugs...keep going...and if you feel yourself stalling then PM me!!
Much love
Wol2

Hi Buffy
I think it is fine to buy the furniture, providing you use it to NOT PROCRASTINATE MORE NEATLY!:D :rotfl: ! Ie you actually keep it tidy (this is pot calling kettle black here. I thought my desk WAS tidy until the packing men took a whole 2ft x 2ft x 2ft carton to pack what was on the top of it:eek: !
So you can use the school holidays to get a system in place with regards to doing stuff. That way when term starts it will already be second nature. For instance this would be the perfect time to develop a weekly routine to get the Avon round down pat, so pick up books x day, put them out on y day and collect them on z day. Again it will mean that you will be in the groove for when term starts. You may not get many orders if people are on holiday, but the walking will do you no harm (how will you see Mr Right if you are not out and about?!!!!!), and you may be surprised on how much after sun you sell:D
As for the driving course - are you going to save for this or just book and go? If the former, remember it is ok to put it on the 0% card, because YOU WILL PASS and that will allow you to achieve your long term aim of a new job!
Now this isn't a dig, but you will do a bit of ebay over the hols? I mean you did say that you had tidied your room, so maybe you have some stuff to sell now. Even if you only listed 1 item a day, that is still 42 items more than if you list nothing at all.....
Finally thank you for your kind post back about my posts 'blushes'. If I am honest it is a bit of a case of there but for the grace of god, and I would also spend loads on clothes. I have to thank my OH for sharing the same world view as me, which is that as long as the clothes are comfortable, and it doesn't have holes or tears in it, or gone grey then they are fine. On the other hand it does mean that things tend to 'go' all at the same time, so I have to spend a couple of hundred quid, just to replace it all!
God I LOVE ebay. I have got some lovely stuff from there, and charity shops too. I am still feeling my way around here in NZ, but have found that charity shops are called OP shops here, ie opportunity shops. How cool is that?
Anyway I hope that you make progress on your goals. And as for the mum/sister thing, be a coward! Two ways, first get all the routines for the other stuff sorted (God I am being bossy tonight sorry!), say allow 3 weeks to do that. Then when there is not much time left before the start of term, then have the heart to heart with your mum. And don't be put off by her bluster about how your sister is an angel or whatever. Tell her that she will hear what you have to say this time, and when you have explained calmly tell her, that due to OU commitments and work, you won't be staying in when they visit in future. And then leave her to it, and DO THIS from x date afterwards. Not matter how many snide comments you have to walk past to get out of the door when they come, just smile, and go and do something, which advances YOUR GOALS, and that doesn't make you feel squashed, belittled etd.
Wow sorry for the rant. Oops I will let it stand. But I just know that you can do this, and also that you will feel SO much better once you have got yourself and your family organised. And from that who knows.
One very last thing. You have been saying about paying off the debt by x date, and then savning for a deposit for 2 years, before you can get out of the family home to buy, BUT YOU ARE ASSUMING that you haven't met Mr Mc Dreamy by then, who will also have money for a deposit. Who knows it could mean a whole year or more NOT at home!:D :T :rotfl:
hugs
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

OOOh I LOVE the phrase "opportunity shops" - I might start calling them that now (just as long as nobody asks me about Hughie Green - one for the oldies like me there!). Got adress through the post today off e-bay - OMG  It had just been put in an ordinary A4 envelope so the post office had had to parcel it up etc. How bad are some people at packaging? I keep getting comments as to how well packaged it is - I thought everyone was just being polite. I've also had shoes just in an ordinary plastic bag  strewth make the effort why don't you? I would like to point out that the theatre tickets were all the cheapest seats we could get as well - an alan bennett play, a play by a theatre group called Lip Service who are 2 women who play all the roles and are very funny (we've followed them since they started) and then lots of comedy - MIchael McIntyre, Russell Howard, Mark Steel, two story telling events - oh gosh it's only 7 events. Danny Boyle was sold out (Mr Rage was sad but I don't really like him very much.....). Then we're also going to see Allo Allo but I'm waiting until nearer the time to book the December treat as we get discounts through work (and if I leave I'm taking the discount number code with me!
) ALso next week our local cinema is doing previews of The Mummy - it's cheap and cheerful so we're going! Might even go tomorrow to see Journey to the Centre of the earth but as it's the matinee not sure our nerves can take it!. Mr Rage is off diong his driving at the mo so I am going to have a nice read of my library book. Now that's nice and cheap. But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

My little home business has made £370, so was going to treat myself to ds lite, but the tv in front room on last legs, so be new tv..........Good while it lasted..... x
mum2one, if you're not hankering after the latest flat screen or Plasma wotsits, there's always TV's on our Freecycle. It may slow down in the recession, but people who bought themselves the latest TV are then stuck with a great big old TV. That's how we got ours replaced when there were shadows across the screen all the time.
But I don't see ds lites on Freecycle

Hugie green - Opportunity Knocks! you aren't that old young lady!
Wol2 and chevailer, wow again! I know I keep saying it but I cannot believe complete strangers care and can be so thoughtful.
I really can't. it sounds lame but sometimes when you think everyone is horrible and then lovely things like this happen.
Any how *pulls self together*
A mini update
I currently have 10 items on ebay. my room is at that sorted but looks worse then it did when I started point mainly cos I am debating what to do with some of the furniture. keep? e bay? freecycle? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
avon bag is packed and ready to go, will be out when Sister arrives. then I shall move in to the consevatory for the evening which is henceforth known as e bay central!!
also did my exercise video today and yesterday and have been mailings (some weird) men on the fish site!
I think I made the right decision about the furniture but am very glad you don't all hate me etc. now you just have to stop me procastinating more neatly! he he:rotfl: brilliant phrase and very apt.
I preborrowed the money for the car thing and the dentist (and OU) from my Credit card - see sig I also cleared the balance of my tesco's card to that and borrowed for the shed(don't ask I complete forgot about that:o ). It seemed like a good idea at the time. I should have borrowed it now tho not two months ago. I was worried they would withdraw the offer!
To any newbies reading this try very hard to avoid doing this sort of thing. its weird, once you have the lightbulb moment (!) you feel so guilty about spending whilst in debt. I have lived like this almost ten years now, always had a 0% on the go, couldn't pay consolidated and so on and it is so hard to change. It was only coming to this site that made me even question it.
the huge fear I have now is that that will happen again and I CANNOT afford higher loan repayments. add to the fear a new found sense of guilt and stupidity that i even borrowed the money in the first place plus constant arguments I have with myself- have a life or get out of debt, how much spending is too much? Can I really get out of this debt? isn't everyone in debt? does it matter? am I selfish? It is hard to stick to the debt free ideal at times!
In the end something Wol said about dealing with one thing at a time struck a chord. My life is now, today this afternoon, I can't wait till I am debt free/two stone lighter/in a new job/home owning to live what is happening now. The balance I must strike is to borrow sensibly work hard and make sure I budget for my life, not some future dream of perfection.
that is quite enough rambling from me. my sister is here now. have to make my escape.
thanks again for everything my lovely diary readers

If it was me Id just have a bog standard TV, but as mum and dad did a fair share towards the vouchers, we thought blow it, and we did...... but then our tv is 15 years old, we've had gd value. Im a big kid re DS Lite, dd having one for her birthday. Slight confession, when ordered tv on amazon, the ds lite accidently fell into the shopping basket, the remaining balance to pay was £99.99, bless him dad handed over !!! his credit card, think!!! he only heard the £9.99 bit!
Keep my mother quiet for a while when she gets the TV.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Thats absolultely brilliant, by looking at your sig ur loan was £17???, now £16???, dropped a 1 off the thousand.
Your doing absolutely brilliant, the thing is the furniture will last you, and get you more organised, so saves time etc in future.
Your doing well with ebay, re the furniture you dont want b4 you freecycle (sounds awful, not meant to), have you got a local paper that does free ads, we tned to use the free ads id the items to big for ebay.
When do you start the driving? xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
