Firstly hugs to all those who need them! Sounds like there is a lot going on for a lot of people.
Yesterday wasn't a NSD. I had to drive to Bristol for work so I planned some rest stops along the way and bought coffee and a snack here and there. With my back playing up on long journeys I had to stop regularly and walk around the services car parks, must've looked very odd! I also used my amazon voucher to get a little piece of IT equipment that I need, and realised I'd run out of toothbrushes so ordered one as mine is past its best. My back wasn't too bad considering I'd spent 6 and a bit hours in the car but I did some yoga when I got in.
Today is a NSD, up early to the gym and then settled in for a bit of a manic day at work. It was pretty non-stop with some challenges but I overcame them and also got a nice email from someone thanking me for my help and telling me to ensure I forward said email to my manager. Little things like that really lift my mood.
Back to the gym tonight for spin class, showered there and now just chilling having dinner while OH is out with friends. All in all a good day.9 -
The equinox. 21 st March, right? But what happens in a leap year? Is it the 20 th???Today has been a day of going hither and thither so I am very grateful for my car, for Pip being discharged from CAMHS, for arnica and fisiocrem - I managed to fall off a kerb and splat half on the kerb and half in the road so I have a bunch of bruises, for earning a bit of money, for my bed.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!9

Thank you all for your good wishes, it's helped as today as been better 😃 tusen talk @Starlight_at_Sea I hope your auntie feels better soon x
Sending hugs to those that need them & well done on everyone's hard work. Pleased you're feeling a little better today @Toni'sfriend & that pip has been discharged @apple_muncher 🎉
As I said before, a better day today. I'm going to be with my main pupil full time now, so whilst I feel bad for the ones having to work with the inappropriate pupil more, I'm super glad I dont'! Went for a walk with my other work bestie at the end of the day.
Got a few errands done on the way he, then helped DS2 sort his finances out. Had a late tea, so meant I started sewing late. Had to stop in the middle to collect DS3 from 2 villages away, then attempted to sew when I got back. Unfortunately my machine wasn't behaving itself, so the air was blue & I'd still not found the cause by 9.45!! Put it away, will have to look at it tomorrow.
Was feeling sorry for myself, when DS3 brought me my late Mother's Day present - a huge Moomin mug 😍 might have to make a honey & lemon drink in it, as feel I'm starting with a cold...
Grateful for you lot, a better day, a walk after work & a surprise present 😃Use it up, wear it out

Yeouch @apple_muncher that sounds a painful, but yey for Pips health improving.
I didn't have you down as a sweary sew-er @Thrifty_Taylor, but am glad you are human! machines not working are not something I have managed to frame as an interesting problem to solve, ever! Our toaster is currently caputt and not replaced. I tried to toast frozen bread under the grill twice today to make cheese on toast, and both times ended up with burnt offerings and the windows and doors open to get rid of the smoke, as I got distracted by online meetings. The moral of this story is I need time for lunch, I am not good at multi tasking and I need to replace the toaster as it will be cheaper than replacing the house!
Am currently over at my cousin's as I stayed with her kids while she was at the nursing home with her mum, paramedics came and decided she would get better care and be more comfortable in the home tonight, but maybe to hospital tomorrow. It's a sad time as she is noticeably weaker. I'm glad to be here just in case and to give an extra pair of hands to help keep things together for the kids. Not too sure what tomorrow will bring.

Felt overwhelmed yesterday and my body was reluctant to do anything so I thought well anything I can do is a bonus. Collected a black bag of rubbish and there was a small white bag I'd thrown down the night before, so I went to see if the bins had been emptied. They hadn't but one of the neighbours hadn't put their's out (nosy neighbour told me the house is empty as the tenant is now in prison). So I collected my bags and put them in that bin, then some pizza boxes and more bits, put thee bin round the corner in case the bin men came before I finished. Finally I added a broken gadget that's been sitting by my back door for weeks and a bag for life full of broken garden bits (both have been waiting around until I had bin space as it wasn't critical that they go out). I could have filled at least another bin bag with bits from round the house but I ached all over so decided to stick with what I'd done.
Did a bung it in the oven lunch and came back upstairs when DS3 came down (he's not been well so I've had the front room to myself for most of the day but he's improving now so coming down mid afternoon rather than in the evening). I had to take ibuprofen to stop the aches enough to get to sleep.
I'm back to being unwell. My nose is dripping slowly and my head aches and I feel fragile. It might be the dust from the other house as my eyes and sinuses itch the way pollen irritates them. I have used lots of eye drops (washing my eyes out) and have my ever present toilet roll but I'll stay where I am for now (just had an ice lolly and a small fruit juice) and gather more rubbish, do some paperwork (catch up on my expenses for the estate, £9 a time taxi fares soon add up).
Grateful for knowing my prescription is going through, for getting things done under difficult circumstances and taking time to rest (listening to my body).11 -
@grandmanerd I'm sorry you are feeling unwell again. You are describing it as similar to when you react to pollen, and I don't know where you live, but it might well be pollens, as in my area they have alerted for high pollen counts every day since last Saturday! I think it should improve tomorrow or Saturday, as apparently a cold snap is on the way.
I am getting ready for my follow up appointment soon, and I just found out that today my mum has been admitted to hospital to do a series of tests to try and understand why she still hasn't recovered since she was ill at the end of last year. I hadn't planned a visit until May, but now I think let's see what they say and if they finally can find the cause.
Grateful for it to be almost the weekend again and for noticing the huge benefit that these last couple of days of sun and lighter weather had on my mood and mental health.
Today was NSD # 10, I am improving but still slightly behind, but there's still enough room to reach my target!

My nose is starting to drip too, & a foggy ache in my ears & eyes. Dosed up on some honey, lemon & hot water instead of hot blackcurrant as my first drink of the day, & a paracetamol. Had breakfast too 😂
Btw @Starlight_at_Sea, if you have a microwave you could try defrosting your bread in their first, then grilling it for toast afterwards, might save the charred effect!
Work went ok, though short staffed & meetings going on, so I nearly didn't get my lunch til very late! Luckily the meeting finished & the head teacher covered for me at 1.40!
DS3's cookery exam went well, he apparently are all the pudding cos he was hungry! Brought the starter & main courses home though. He helped me dump the desk I've had in my car boot for 2 days, have nowhere to store it at home to see if DH can fix it. Picked up for chunky posts off a bed headboard & footboard that were next to a skip, they might come in handy in the future.
Had a nap for half an hour, which helped my fuzzy head. Brought a different sewing machine in from the shed, but it still did the same thing! Changed back to my regular machine & did s different sewing job, which worked ok 🥳 then had another go at the first job. It's not brilliant, but it'll do!
Now for a soak in the bath.
Grateful for finally getting my dinner, a nap after work, getting 2 sewing jobs doneUse it up, wear it out

Morning turtles. Yesterday was my last day at work before 10 days of leave (with the exception of one day on call tomorrow) and it was utterly manic! Why does everything kick off when you're about to take leave eh! Worked 12 hours with no lunch break
the only plus side is it definitely left no time for any spending! Didn't sneak out for my mid-afternoon coffee which is good for me, not so good for the coffee shop I suppose but they'll get by.
I made a couple of silly mistakes at work over the last few days and am now doubting myself when going for this temporary promotion. If I don't get it then I really need to double down and just be better.
Today I have a pretty busy day, have to pick my car up from the garage as had some work done yesterday, then bunny is off to the vet for a checkup at 9. Trustee interview at 11 then hopefully meeting a friend for a walking lunch at 12. I have a gp appt at 2 and want to get to the gym as well somewhere in between lol.10 -
Yesterday my laptop charger broke (the little silver tiggy stayed in the slot but the rubber covering and the rest of the charger came away) so any online plans were shelved. Beloved ordered a new one for me and I had another mostly resting day - I think hayfever is contributing to it thanks (I must remember that if I have any sudden mood dips) and my left eye was particularly painful.
Woke this morning to yet another reminder about my smart meter installation today??? Lost track of what day it is again, only this time I lost a day. Had to ask DS3 to order food to go for me. I'd tried to walk to little Arseda yesterday evening (when I thought it was still Wednesday) but decided I'd go first thing today (assuming that was Thursday). DS3 went off to his appointment. I hovered, waiting for the food to arrive, called for a taxi when the fitter called to say he was on his way and luckily my food bag arrived as I was assembling my stuff by the door (I now have loppers and the pruning saw in addition to the secateurs and tree saw).
Fitter arrived just after me so I sat in the kitchen and ate breakfast (cross buns, I'm going to freeze some for Friday). gas smart meter couldn't be installed - I have to find a gas engineer to remove a lead pipe and replace it with copper (fragile pipe could shatter and cause a gas leak). I toddled down the street and put a note through my niece's door so she can update my brother.
The electric smart meter installation went ahead but then it wouldn't connect to HQ. The fitter spent ages going outside to his van (better signal) then coming back in to see if the meter was responding. The meter started working but still no connection to HQ. In the end he asked if I needed to be anywhere and I said I was at the limit of my pain threshold (taken painkillers, changed position from the walker to the coffee table and standing holding on to the door frame and he should have been at his next appointment, so we decided to leave and I called a taxi. Meter is working, little display pad is working.
Home and everyone else was in bed so I stretched out on the couch and my back eased straight away. Ate and read until my laptop charger was delivered, by which time I felt able to tackle the stairs. Also had a text to say my pills will be delivered on Monday (previous text said they were ready for collection). Got comfortable on the bed, set the laptop and phone to charge and drifted into sleep. Felt much better when I woke and went downstairs, set the WM going, brought in my clean dresses and towels from the line and did more rubbish round up. Ate again. DS3 came downstairs and I've come back up (the washing only made it as far as the bottom of the stairs as my bag was very heavy). I'm going to keep screen time low as my eye is still sore. I'm going to read and get lots more sleep. Hoping I can keep my back relaxed so I can tackle more stuff in the morning (asked DS3 to bring the black bins back)
Grateful for smart meters (the little pad should make it easier to take readings at least), books, the couch and bed.9
