NST March 2024: The Magic Roundabout

Hugs Toni'sfriend.
Yesterday I ordered my repeat prescription - tried last week only to find they have altered the system and only accept phone calls between 10 am and noon so I was waiting with my finger above the call button. Had a phone call from the chief wizard and booked waste wizards round two for today. The two payments now total what I was originally hoping for. I did a little bit of cutting back outside (rubble sack 7 and I am 4 feet away from the back door. I have managed to scrape away some of the undergrowrh and the yard has paving slabs.
Wiped out again by the time I got home so had an afternoon nap and only went back down for food.
Grateful for the waste removal (and that I didn't have top do it) - just cleaning, painting, some minor repairs, some new carpet/ lino and then clearing the yard to go (as well as the whole selling business), for my bed and sleep, for an enjoyable series - left the last episode for today and am pleased to find there arre 3 more series.9 -
Gentle hugs @Toni'sfriend. Hope you are not feeling too sore. Let them have a think, and then discuss the next plan.
Today was disappointing. My flakey friend bailed on me again this morning, so we made another date for this week, she bailed on that one this evening, so we have arranged to meet next week instead. Attempt number six to have coffee together. After this I give up!
Grateful for puff pastry, ds1 making me a cup of tea, step ladders 🪜🪜

Sending hugs @Toni'sfriend. The chaise lounge is cleared for you & @grandmanerd. Rest easy, ladies 😊
Thanks @beanielou. I still felt upset about yesterday's events when I went into work today. Even more so when the pupil's parent blamed what I was wearing on encouraging this behaviour!! Had to go & have a cry in the bathroom for 10 mins, whilst my work bestie covered my (different from yesterday's) pupil. Felt a bit better afterwards. She checked up on me throughout the day too.
Rushed to town with DS3 after work, bought a new to mum desk, delivered it & put her broken one in my car. Dashed home, took photos of memory items I'd made, then delivered them to the family. They loved them!
Grateful for my work bestie, feeling better after my cry, & DS3's help carrying desks up/down 2 flights of stairs!Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Things sound really tough @Toni'sfriend, lots to process... we're here to listen and also to distract, whichever you feel like day to day. I really enjoy seeing your posts but also realise you might not feel inclined just now. Sending love.
Sorry your experiencing such inappropriate students and parents @Thrifty_Taylor. I'm glad you have work besties there to help in a way we cannot. I'm always so in awe of what you get done and how you approach things.
Jeg er så stolt av deg!
@grandmanerd I am loving the idea of the waste wizards, thank you for sharing as it's helping me make forward plans for a complex and cluttered space I anticipate being responsible for sorting out in the future. I'm so glad you 'only' have the clearing, carpeting, painting and selling bit.....that seems like an awful lot but if anyone can break it into manageable tasks you can!

Super complicated day here, work was very full on and very long but I think I navigated it reasonably well. From the work I am doing at the moment I can see all our finances working through to payroll on the system so I have some confidence that my expenses etc will be there at end of the month. That's about the only MSE thing today, that and not spending anything as did not leave computer!
Luckily had leftovers from grand cooking session last week that I had defrosted for yesterday, so I had leftover leftovers and packet of steamed veg for dinner. Dad's TV set up is malfunctioning, I tried the various tricks I found online a few times but think it's either the aerial or the weather. Resorted to turning off and will try again in the am. This is golden boys domain not mine!
My aunt is very unwell, have been messaging with my cousin and trying to think of the things I can do to help. Mainly keeping DC nourished etc I think. I will pop over with some food/care parcels tomorrow night,I have plenty in the freezer from the cookfest a couple of weeks ago.
Caught up on dad's washing and washed a new jumper I got in charity shop on our mini hol. Saltrock, a bargain!
Happy Wednesday all x11 -
Well done on getting the house cleared so promptly @grandmanerd. Remember that the estate, not you, should be paying for the garden clearance, painting etc that remains to be done.Missed posting for a few days, but have been reading along. My brother had chemotherapy / immunotherapy again on Monday, and it was such a long day. I was up just after 5 to enable me to pick him up and drop him off at the hospital in the city in time for his early appointment. The traffic / roadworks round here means that you have to allow loads of time to get anywhere. Normally he is finished by about 4, but various delays meant that he wasn't ready till after 6pm, so it was well after 7 when we got home. Thankfully OH drove there and back to collect him as the traffic was at its worst by then, and I was shattered. Very tiring for my brother too, as he was either at the hospital, mainly waiting around, or in the car for 12 hours or so. He is ok in himself though after a good night's sleep, and hopefully all done for another 3 weeks.I have lost track of NSDs as usual. Today won't be one, as I need a bit of shopping. Only a few things as I have decided I don't need a proper weekly shop this time, as I have lots to be used up.The weather is a bit murky and rainy looking (no change there then) but it is definitely more spring like, and the heating is off most of the time now. I have a load of washing to do, and I want to sow some seeds (in pots, the soil is still too cold and wet to sow little seeds direct). Might put some early potatoes in though, as they are big and go deeper in the ground. It is lovely to see the spring flowers and the leaves starting to appear on the treesDinner will be lamb curry I made on MondayBetter get on, as OH is out and I want to get some things done before he reappears and gets in the way9

Big hugs @Toni'sfriend and @Thrifty_Taylor
@grandmanerd your progress is great, I always look forward to your posts to see how much you accomplished on a given day and I have a little picture in my mind of all the progress you are making, it's quite satisfying to follow, can't wait for the next chapter!
My week has been progressing as usual, super boring day in the office yesterday, but at least it's done for this week, had a lovely weekend with the new friends from the crochet club/book club/line dancing groups, as one of them organised a game night at her house, where I even met 2 new people and a lovely 3 months puppy!
I am feeling quite excited as my dearest childhood friend (who lives in my country of origin) has decided to come and visit on the weekend after Easter, she is going to take a proper break from child and husband and daily life and is going to spend 3 days with me! She has been suffering psychologically a lot since her son was born as he's always had quite bad health (nothing life-threatening but enough for her to never be able to fully relax) so she and her husband decided it would be good for her to do something just for her for a couple of days, and I am delighted! We are already planning all of the activities and where and what to eat, can't wait! It's going to be a good distraction for me too.
Today I am grateful for my friend deciding to visit me and for the first proper Spring day of the year.
