NST March 2024: The Magic Roundabout

Today was my non-working day, for which I am always eternally grateful! I went to the gym mid-morning and was surprised at just how busy it was. Came home and did a few jobs around the house, then went to get a massage. Much needed but also lost my NSD. Used the credit card so need to remember to transfer the money to pay it straight off.
I cashed in a voucher I was given for Christmas, it was one of those that can be used in lots of shops but even though I keep looking for stuff I can't find any of the things I want/need. So I decided to go down that route instead of just buying something for the sake of it. At least this way I can get some bits I genuinely do need. I also got an amazon voucher through for switching my sim card a few months back (thanks to Martin's email). I need some IT equipment before I go back to uni in September so plan to put both things towards getting the stuff I need.
Did a bit of prep for a charity trustee interview I have coming up (because I clearly don't have enough on my plate!) And now just waiting for the bath to fill up. Happy Monday turtles.11 -
Happy Monday! Some lovely things to be grateful for across our turtle gang, it really lifts me reading yours!
Grateful that my mini holiday with my dad went well,in that we got on well and came home still getting on well, despite some adversity - spending one day of the three we were away for in A&E after dad got some weird symptoms and a eagle eyed pharmacist sent us off there. Was all ok in the end. Was very special to see places that meant a lot to my mum and see some of her friends from days before she married.
A little weirdly I also bumped into a couple I met in a hot tub in a hotel about 9 years ago and about 300 miles from the place I was tis weekend, when I was travelling for work. We got talking as you do, and it turned out they now lived in the town my mum had lived in, and lived on the same street as my mum's friend did..I must then have mentioned it to mum, and she mentioned it to her friend who is now 90 but remembered it...anyway, zoom forward nearly a decade and we went out for lunch with mum's friend and lo and beyond, she recognised the hot tub people across the restaurant..I did not! It's a small world isn't it!
A few days away have not broken the bank, we stayed with mum's friend, dad took us out for two meals and I took a home made meal for everyone, mainly from stores, and dad also bought my supermarket shop on the way home as a thank you for driving. We have packed lunches both long journeys and I topped up using free Costa drinks one way and we stopped at the hospice mum died at on the way back to see the daffodils I planted while I was there with her, so I was happy to donate in return for a cuppa.and a few moments of reflection.
now back to the real world. went to the gym tonight before turning laptop on as I do need to prioritise my health....also cooked (heated up) a hm veggie lasagne for tea. Did a load of washing, dealt with most urgent emails, now to bed!10 -
Afraid it's not been a brilliant day for me. Had a message from a friend to say she's been diagnosed with the big C & needing a hysterectomy.
My morning went ok, despite being with a different class as my regular pupil was off sick. Had an afternoon full of inappropriate behaviour towards me, which upset me, so have told the head teacher that I'm not willing to work with them any more. The head & class teacher have both backed me up, so pleased I've said it now.
Had training after work, which I wasn't really in the mood for. Bought flowers for my ill friend & dropped them off on my way home.
Made the second memory cushion after tea.
Grateful for supportive colleagues, seeing a couple of colourful male pheasants on the way to work, hugs from DS3Use it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Hello Everyone
Hope you are all well.
Got home from hospital yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, op no 2 didn't go according to plan either and the outcome wasn't what was hoped for. So, I'm not quite sure what number plan we are at now but no more surgery. It wouldn't be beneficial. Not quite as bad as it sounds so we plod on. xxxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.12 -

Sorry to hear that the operation didn't go right. Giving you virtual hugs and hoping for the best for you @Toni'sfriend. Sometimes you wonder if the doctors have any idea what they are doing. I feel they are just trying things out on me and hoping for the best. But it isn't working so far.8

I know what you mean, Wee Nancy. My surgery should have been simple but they weren't expecting to find my anatomy was a bit odd. Can't legislate for somebody being a bit different.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9
