Have a lovely time away @lcc86 😃
Another NSD, could be #9.
Watched DS1 open his presents before I went to work, he was chuffed to get a surprise of 15 packets of his favourite sweets, that are only usually in the shops in the summer! He loved his other presents too, but knew what they were as he chose them.
A good day at work, another first achievement for my pupil, so we're all really pleased!
Decorated DS's carrot cake when I got home, then did the ironing. After tea we watched a film together & I did a few rows of my knitting.
Grateful for DS liking his presents, time to draw in the art class & a nice nightUse it up, wear it out

Oh dear, March has been a bit of washout for me as regards posting regularly
DH, DD2, DS and me have all gone down firstly with a flue type virus, swiftly followed my a tummy bug, so we are feeling a bit washed out currently! Hopefully things will be looking up when April lands, with days becoming longer and lighter - I can't wait. We seem to have had a month of heavy rain, hailstones, and strong winds in our little corner of Wales.
Next month will also see our 'work load' changing up a bit too as Stepmum - after spending almost four months in hospital having broken her hip just before Christmas, catching Covid, Flu, MRSA and suffering several falls whilst on the wards - is coming back to her own home on the 9th of AprilShe will be having a care package for six weeks, which we should be able to make ongoing and me, my brother and my DH (who retired last Friday yay!) will be filling in any gaps.
Although I've hardly posted I've been reading all you wonderful Turtles' posts and send my love and good wishes to you all, See you next month7 -
Thanks for the update, Flying_By. You've had a rollercoaster of a month!Today I am grateful for a friend getting a new job, for my counsellor, for not getting caught in the downpours, for a good journey and successful visit to the Maudsley, for Pip now being on his Easter break.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

That sounds like a lovely surprise additional present thrifty! Glad the birthday festivities went well! Congratulations on the new lightweight walker Beanylou, may it bring you a bit of freedom and reassurance. My mum put a bicycle bell on hers, to ask for help or encourage people out of the way. I thought that was such a good idea!
Congratulations on DHs retirement Flying by, and on your mum's return home. I hope there aren't too many gaps in the support and it works well for you. We had some good advice from a friend about clearing a cupboard so there was an obvious store place for any medical or personal care items, and making up a folder of our own instructions to help with continuity. Things like quirks in the TV controls etc.
I am quite recently home after a night away for work, or home to my cousin's at least. Have eaten well and plenty of veggies and fruit! A big project reached a key point and I think my work/life balance might start to return soon. It needs to, as my own life is quite unbalanced just now, lots of plates being dropped!8 -
Sending hugs to all that need them. Happy new walker @beanielou, hope it's a lot easier for you to get about now. Hope you all feel better soon @Flying_By & hope stepmum settles back home ok & happy retirement to Mr flying_by.
Work went well again, with another successful itinerant lesson 😃
Had a nap when I got home, then phoned mum. Still no word of when a funeral for my auntie is to be held. Have tentatively looked at flights/trains & boats, but can't book anything til we know what's happening. Did 3 sewing jobs after tea & watched TV with DS1. He has now caught the overnight boat to Aberdeen for his holibobs, thankfully he's booked accommodation, as it's far to cold for wild camping this week. Still waiting on DS3 coming home, it's 1.5 hours after he said he'd be back. Apparently he's halfway, but the bus is dawdling in town...
Grateful being able to communicate by phone, a good day at work, cats to make us laughUse it up, wear it out

Does anyone want to do April?3

Thank you for the 'Important Cupboard advice' @Starlight_at_Sea, I will definitely implement that! The trouble with Stepmum is that she is such a creature of habit she gets agitated if the carers are late or want to put her to bed at 7pm etc. She has her meals at specific times and lives by that routine and very unlikely to change at nearly 96 years old! At least my brother and I each live about 5 minutes away, so the plan is we will plug most of the gaps.
You seem to have been frightfully busy yourself lately, I hope you can retire your spinning plates to their designated cupboard very soon6 -
