oh CoG you have been assimilated....
Yes they rang before I left. I'm off the tablets for a week as I have a dodgy kidney result (guess who doesn't drink enough water) *whistles nonchalantly*Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Mmm another here who probably doesn't drink enough water Valli.
Nice day, went up to our local Forestry Commission site and did one of their 5k running trails through the forest. Their visitor centre cafe has all been redone and they now do proper coffee and cake for £5.50 so I treated myself to a flat white and healthy granola slice.
We were at West Burton ASB x Lovely place to stay.
Called at Li@l on the way home. Laundry over the airer, bathroom scrubbed, two big cottage pies made (one meat and one veggie), last few holiday bits tidied away. Our utility room needs a proper clean so I want to tackle that before I go back to work.
I am going completely outside my comfort zone tomorrow and having a bra fit at M&S. Mum gave me some money for my birthday so I am going to the big city to treat myself.8 -
Evening,
@pigpen - darn it ... but good luck with finding him another position.
I can't remember what was on my list, but not sure I did any of it anyway!
So, what did I do .... um:- Cleaned bathroom radiator - this brush is disturbing (in a good way, possibly)
- Cleaned bathroom floor as a result
- Got the compost ready for sowing brassica, but not yet sown seeds
- Washing out on line ... had air ... didn't dry ... now put over airer
- Cleaned fireplace out
- Dusted tv area
- Potted on shallots and red onions
- Finally tackled the blackberry plants and pruned the apple tree
- Dusted skirting boards in spare room
- Washed out bathroom bin
Dinner now in the oven (HM lasagne from the freezer, brussel sprouts (freshly picked) and a tin of sweetcorn)GC - March 2024 -6 - Cleaned bathroom radiator - this brush is disturbing (in a good way, possibly)

Piggers I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending you all the love xx
My washing machine and shower have both packed in today. Repeat after me: some days you’re the pigeon, some days you’re the statue…8 -
@valli - yes I'm a fully paid-up flyperson now.
Sorry to hear about your kidney result. I rarely feel thirsty so have to make a conscious effort to drink plenty. I can only do it by having a routine, so I have (as a minimum) two large glasses as soon as I get up, two with my lunch, two with my supper and one before I go to bed. I usually have a coffee around 4pm and sometimes a glass or two more of water. I also top-up my fluid intake with plenty of wine.
@Asparklierblonde sorry to hear about your breakdowns - what a pain. I hope that they're not too expensive or difficult to fix. This afternoon I decluttered a pile of papers that have been sitting on top of the printer for months. Some I threw away and others are now waiting to be filed, which I will definitely do tomorrow, or the pile will largely just have moved from one place to another.I also moved things forward a bit on having my friend's ashes buried as I paid for the plot and also spoke to the funeral director about taking them to the cemetery, which is 100 miles from him. He agreed to do it though, which is a relief. Just need to get a date now.
This evening I went for an hour or so to some friends who live nearby for a drink and a chat. It was nice to get out and do something different. I'd cooked an M&S quiche before I left so supper was quick to prepare when I got back. After that I washed up and responded to a TFL consultation about a proposed local road 'improvement' scheme. Off to bed soon - night all.7 -

Be careful what you wish for!! After saying the other day we needed snow, guess what we woke up to! About an inch overnight and snowing again now. Just hope it cleans the top of the tunnel, and doesn't get cold enough to kill the seedlings.
I've had a terrible cold for the last couple of days, thank you DGC. Nose and eyes streaming, aching everywhere, etc. Feel a bit better today.
Flying, yesterday I managed to fill in some mouse holes in the outside wall and point them with cement. Don't think it will stop the rodents, they'll find another way in, I'm sure. The problems of having a house built in the eighteenth century.
Sorry to hear that Mr pigpen has lost his job. I hope something else comes along for him quickly.
Glad miss ASB is on the mend. Bad news about the washer and shower. Are either of them fixable? Or will they need replacing?
Off to start on the DW. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6 -
Pixie is happy but apprehensive for her new school.. same one as Squeak which is a good thing.. separating her from Dot is a good thing.. she feels a level of responsibility for her and I do not like that.. helping out or keeping an eye on one another to make sure they are safe is fine but I cannot abide parentification and have been very careful to avoid it.
DS2 has applied for a job at The R@nge.. that might dishevel my school runs and afterschool activities but I really hoe he gets it.. a job would be really good for him and he would be there forever!
I need to send OH for parrot medicine for Pixie, she is really not well.. she is laid in bed still.I need to sort Am@z0n paymentsI need to ring the prescription team again and sort GF/dairy free flour for Twinkle.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)5 -
The only flying I've done so far is to start to vac the condensation off the windows. I did most of them but then the battery on the window vac died, so it's charging. I also replied to an e-mail from the clerk of the parish council and deleted several 'junk' e-mailsFlyadvice request. As I mentioned before, we bought a new casserole dish recently and I"m wondering what to do with the old one. It's a Le Creuset style (but much cheaper) heavy, cast iron, red enamelled one. It has two very tiny chips on the enamel on one of the handles and one very small one on the edge of the lid. The interior is slightly stained from several years of use, but it really is only a minor thing. My options are: (1) make a 10 mile round trip to the recycling centre, which would best be done on a Sunday morning but would take at least 45 - 50 minutes and use half a gallon of petrol and I have nothing else to take. (2) Take it to a charity shop.Obviously my preference is to take it to a charity shop but do you think it would sell? I don't want to transfer my problem onto them.6
