Morning allBack from a couple of days away in the Yorkshire Dales, around ASBs part of the world I think. Usually this would involve a lot of hiking and cycling for us, which DH can't do at the moment, so it was different but still nice.
I am on holiday for the rest of the week but now I am home I am wondering what's going on at the paid stuff, sigh.CofG DH loves leek and potato soup and grows leeks in our little raised beds which he makes into very tasty soup, he does like it blended to death though, whereas I like a few lumps!
No idea what today brings, it's rainy and cold out. On the flying front there is laundry to sort but the house is presentable if you don't look too closely. Coffee next I think.8 -
Morning xx
Yesterday's after work post seems to have vanished into the ether 🤔 Heyho.
I left work 90 minutes early - using up an oddment of Annual Leave - as my eye was playing up. It's not done that for ages. It settled after an hour at home with no screens. Hopefully a one off thing. 🤞
I'm up, made my bed, got dressed, packed my lunch, had porridge for breakfast for a change, and I'm supping my brew. Birds will be fed and recycling put out before I set off to the paid stuff.
A bit of excitement yesterday. S texted me to say that P's brother and his partner got married in A&E yesterday evening! They were due to get married at home tomorrow but he's back in hospital. Not quite sure what occurred but the doctors and nurses kept him in a side ward on A&E because they'd never had a wedding on A&E before. And they made a splendid fuss of the couple. There will now be a blessing in the hospital Chapel tomorrow instead of the ceremony at home. S assures me that it's not because D is EOL which was my first thought. Congratulations to the newly weds. 🔔 🔔 💑 🔔 🔔

Quick one from me. DD is back at school, hopefully she will last the day. She was a in a terrible mood this morning, I kept my distance and chatted to the sheep until she got on the bus!! DS is fine now @pigpen thanks for asking chick xx
DDs bed and my bed made. Not done DS yet but will sort when I get back later - need to nip to community pantry shortly so taking a very early lunch! Spag bol for tea. Fire roaring etc etc - you know the drill by now with me!
YL whereabouts were you? You can see me from Tan Hill
Take care all xx7 -
Round - congrats to the happy couple
Meters read and readings submitted. Breakfast scoffed. Stew in SC for tea. Chucked a couple of home grown bay leaves in for that added taste profile!
Eggs put away - took former colleague (who owned this house before me) a pile of egg boxes...she dropped a full box off last night. They only have 3 chickens and still have more eggs than they can use!
Off to work shortly. Telephone appointment for 9:20 am hasn't happened...and I KNOW I've got the date right. But I don't seem to have had a reminder, either...
Just checked emails - yes, it's there.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

@YORKSHIRELASS I'm with you on 'lumpy' leek and potato. A is too, thank goodness, as otherwise I would have to get the blender out of a cupboard with, doubtless, other things falling out, wash it as it hasn't been used for ages, and then do the whole thing in reverse - no thank you! I saved time yesterday as I had a bit of mash left over from the the day before and used that as the potato element (pre-blended lol) and it was fine.@roundtuit what excitement. I've not heard of an A&E wedding before.@Valli I hope that they rang before you went out. I know how annoying it is when they don't ring - we've had it a few times.@pigpen that's really bad news - I'm sorry. It's always saying on the news that firms can't find people so hopefully he won't be out of work for long. In the meantime I'm sure you'll find him plenty of things to be do!It rained all morning, often quite heavily, so my plan to go for a walk combined with a visit to the shops was scrapped. I did pop out to get the paper and post the card I'd written last night but that was a very short journey. I put together the laundry for the laundry company, who came shortly afterwards. A Waitrose delivery arrived and I put that all away. I went down to the basement to read the electricity meter and came back up and input it on the website. It gives you the bill straight away and we used £90 less than last month, which was good, although we now pay more a month than we paid a quarter not so very long ago, but that's the same for everyone, I know.In the Waitrose order was some new eco-friendly surface cleaner I'd bought. It comes in a reusable aluminium spray bottle and you put the little bottle of concentrate in it and add water. I was excited to try it (how sad it that
) and it smells lovely. I was a bit concerned to see on the box all sorts of safety warnings though, including that it is 'hazardous to aquatic life with long-lasting effects', if you get any in your eyes you should call a poison centre (whatever that is), wear protective gloves and eye protection etc. etc. That doesn't sound very eco does it?
A had an ophthalmology appointment this afternoon but they rang this morning to cancel it and said they would write with a new date. They probably heard he was going to harangue them about having to have so many eye meds.He hasn't heard anything about his x-rays so he ran the GP just now and has an appointment for Monday. The receptionist didn't say if the results were back but I hope so as if not it will be a wasted journey.
