Sorry, what's UIA?
I'm surprised nobody else pointed out my mistake lol!Yes, I thought that's what you meant! I was searching UIA on Google though.Top results include lawyers and architects.
There's quite a few groups around my way still, on the local U3A website. But how many are actually active I don't know.0 -

You need to give them plenty of notice , maybe a few weeks or a month.

When I first retired nearly 3 years ago from a very regimented job where I had to complete tasks to strict deadlines I decided to embrace spontaneity in all things.
However, I soon discovered that my character enjoys making lists and ticking completed tasks off said list, otherwise I became a victim of never do today what you can put off indefinitely! Also realised that I enjoyed pottering and procrastination, even although it used to drive me mad when my mother did these two things
So, like others have already mentioned, I have a semi-structured day with 'must do' key tasks and room for flexibility if the sun shines unexpectedly or a friend suggests a quick coffee and a natter. I also need to fend off the constant requests from family to carry out their boring admin tasks, otherwise I wouldn't do anything else (a limited amount is acceptable, such as picking up others prescriptions when I am picking up mine etc.).
My advice is to try a number of different approaches to planning your time and you will fall into a routine that works for you.9 -

I've struggled with purpose since retiring. A part-time job, some caring responsibilities and a lot of DIY have helped but 3 years on and things are only beginning to settle now.
I've routine in some areas - getting up, going to bed, meal times. Diet has a degree of consistency as well.
Exercise has slipped over what I expected/ intended but I walk a lot.
Despite having time on my hands and wanting things to do - I've struggled to make regular commitments. Where something I want to attend has a regular weekly slot I often miss about as many as I make. I work 1 -2 days a week, with days varying and I like going away for a few days or doing a day trip or something else depending on weather and that spontaneity clashes with doing something on the same time and same day every week.4 -
Live to loaf 😉😁😎😇How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)5
