Mostly I have no plan and I love it.
For 30 years I was in IT, Project Management, dealing with clients and had a very regimented calendar along with commuting to London. Also very stressfull for many years (not so much towards the end when I went contracting thankfully).
Now I reveal in the opposite of this. No plans, no alarms, no clients. Its total bliss and I love it.
    Usually a combo of eating / drinking / socialising / walking / cycling / gardening / gigs / music / holidays!

    I love these posts....
It was my original idea of starting tthe thread

Me too. Retirement is some way off for me, but I like to have a plan. It would be good to know what income accompanies these lifestyles, but I get that people may not want to share that information.

I've not retired yet so it wouldn't have affected me anyway but I noticed the other week that the local UIA had closed down. I wonder if any/many others have done so in recent years?

    Sorry, what's UIA?

    My error. I meant U3A.
I'm surprised nobody else pointed out my mistake lol!

Yes, I thought that's what you meant! I was searching UIA on Google though. :) Top results include lawyers and architects. :)

There's quite a few groups around my way still, on the local U3A website. But how many are actually active I don't know.

  • I've got a really busy day today. Weekly shop today instead of tomorrow because of the bank holiday. But also got to go to my mum's insurance broker. She is in a nursing home and we have POA. My daughter is currently renting mum's house but she runs her make up business from home. It makes the insurance quite difficult. Got the latest renewal quote through but they seem to be advising we take out a policy to appoint our own loss adjuster if we make a claim. Inference seems to be that we can't trust the insurance company that we are paying over 400 quid, to not rip us off if we have to make a claim. So me and my sister are going in to see them and ask some questions before we decide what to pay.

Probably need a lie down and a bit of a snooze this afternoon!!
