Watched Pidcock win the Amstel Gold Race, went for 50 mile bike ride with lunch at half way point, fixed my tenant's storm door closing mechanism, watched Masters golf and then Coachella on youtube. And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.6

My point was more that as a person without the scheduled rigours of work, one can happen upon such things, or indeed actively seek them out 😉
(although, truth be told, I haven’t been out on mine this winter much - too wet!!!)
If only we could actually rely on the forecasts to be accurate!! All that computer power, and they still get it wrong more than right. Even on the day! They usually err on the pessimistic.
Often we look at the forecast and decide to either do (or not do) something, and it turns out we could have done what we postponed, or postponed something to another day.
Flexibility to literally "look out the window" is more the point, rather than the forecast IMHO.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)4 -
XC weather I take an average of readings…used to be just the BBC and Met Office, but now discovered XCWeather, which is a decent app….raining all day today (just rumbled thunder outside).A birthday party here later: I knocked up 2kg dough last night to make a bunch of pizzas for pals later this evening 🎉🎂🍕😎👍Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!5

I use XC weathers wind arrows to decide on the days cycle route, strangely hard to find that elusive circular arrow pattern from behind that covers my route, even more strange, the faster I ride, the stronger the headwind gets"All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest”3

Possibilities for today were pre-checking a route for group walk DH is organising on Saturday (route is established but we were thinking of tweaking to make it prettier) or a day at the seaside. Now it's tanking down so I'll go and get my nails done instead. Flexibility is a wonderful thing.2
