Retirees what is your typical day

When I did cycle, and left my bike at the station to pick up, the bike was still there but some s*d had stolen the front light (back when you fixed what was basicallt a torch on the front). Getting back through country lanes with no front light wasn't fun. I swapped to dynamo pretty quick!

I retired 2 years ago, I had been working from home which I hated and was a big factor in my early retirement. I was doing 3 days a week, so already I was filling my days on Monday and Friday. A typical week/ month will include walking several times a week ( I belong to a Nordic walking group) I go to a craft club a couple of times a month (scrapbooking) meeting friends for coffee etc. next week I'm going to London to meet a friend for lunch and a gallery ( got the senior Railcard). I just love it so much and feel really grateful I can do this. Husband is hoping to go part time next year. Its a bit up in the air at the moment.6

For an atypical day….yesterday we had a bit of a craft session booked, which went well and had a lovely lunch pack supplied….but on the way back, since we had finished early, we made a random decision to stop and have a wander about Chesterfield. We had driven through it to the Peak District or Sheffield MANY times over the past 20+ years, but never taken a wander in (aside from when I upgraded a back-office system at a building society there in the late 90s 🤪).
What an amazing day to pick 😎There was a BIG 1940s Market Day happening, with various singers of the era at either end of the town.A whole load of 1940s era cars - one fella had owned his for over 60 years! - an old fire engine and military vehicles, and outside the twisted spire church was a Spitfire!
Fabulous vibe about the place: LOADS of people had dressed up, and various stores had also done window displays to blend in.
These things are hard to happen upon midweek when you’re working🤣👍Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!6 -
Having seen your post on another thread that mentioned this, I looked it up but it seems like this 40s market experience is now finished - I think it was just for the Easter holidays.cfw1994 said:For an atypical day….yesterday we had a bit of a craft session booked, which went well and had a lovely lunch pack supplied….but on the way back, since we had finished early, we made a random decision to stop and have a wander about Chesterfield. We had driven through it to the Peak District or Sheffield MANY times over the past 20+ years, but never taken a wander in (aside from when I upgraded a back-office system at a building society there in the late 90s 🤪).

Indeed….it turned out it was a 1 day only event: we were very lucky!
My point was more that as a person without the scheduled rigours of work, one can happen upon such things, or indeed actively seek them out 😉Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!3 -
OH has managed to get in one long cycle with his mates pretty much every week over the winter by looking out for the drier days. They never seem to fall at the weekend when I’m not workingcfw1994 said:Indeed….it turned out it was a 1 day only event: we were very lucky!

Exactly that! I am a bit of a fair weather cyclist, and being able to pick a random day is really a gift to be enjoyed!Sarahspangles said:

(although, truth be told, I haven’t been out on mine this winter much - too wet!!!)Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!2 -
I'm with you. I wear waterproof clothing and overshoes on my cycling commute to work, and although they work fantastically, and I am usually dry and warm upon arrival, I wouldn't describe it as fun! : )cfw1994 said:

I'll take some sunshine and a gentle breeze any day! : )
Think first of your goal, then make it happen!2 -
On a similar theme , I am only a fair weather fisherman. So again retirement gives you more flexibility to react to weather forecasts !cfw1994 said:
