There has been a lot of criticism here for Co-op Bank.
I opened their current account, switched in, opened a Regular Saver. Added 250 to it this morning and set up a standing order to fund it monthly.
All very easy, trouble free and within expected timeframes.
No need for me to phone/ complain to CS.
For me, it was a vastly better experience than dealing with Nat West/ Ulster Bank.
A similarly trouble free experience for me too. Existing current account holder (probably one of the few who use Co-op as ‘main’ account😊).
Early Sat am applied for RS & got email acknowledgement.
Early Sun am got email, application approved
Early today Tues, RS appeared in app. Funded by xfer from current account.

By no means instant, but I won’t be losing sleep over the few pence ‘lost’ interest

You won’t have any lost interest, because the RS runs for 12 months from the date of your first deposit, not the date that the account was opened.

We'll find out in a year whether the T&Cs are correct
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

    Sorry for your boredom.

I'm afraid that discussion of a brand new Regular Saver account is about as exciting as it gets round here.
  • Finally my RS account is showing online.  Just about to deposit before month end

Applied for the regular saver on Sunday  25/2 08:48 and and received email (6hrs 27mins later)  to confirm Regular Saver application approved 25/2 15:15.

Wife applied 26/2 12:15 and still waiting for the approval email (33hrs later).

    Is it worth re-applying?
  • Applied for the Co-operative Regular Saver tonight, 27th Feb. after 6pm.
I received an email acknowledgment of the application at 18.16, and a second email telling me that my application had been approved at 18.18.
    Really speedy!

Perhaps they are dealing with new applications first and working backwards through the backlog.
Because they "needed more information" to process my application, I told them they could change my title from Ms to Mrs (no other change to my details) on Sunday and still no confirmation that my application has been approved.
Have begun to wonder whether to begin the process for a second time.

It took a couple days after I got the account approval notification before it appeared in my App (Android version). It then wouldn't let me transfer money into the account in the app but it did let me transfer in via online banking. Not a major issue but a bit annoying that the App isn't working properly.
