Absolutely no offence taken - you are 100% right to be honest. I have taken the work of others due to been too nice. I have made if perfectly clear I will not be accepting any more work. If they are desperate for me to take the work of those leaving then I need some of my current work taking off me. My own work standards have slipped due to trying to do multiple jobs and they are even remotely the same sort of work either. One job is pretty spreadsheet, admin heavy and the other is operational and needs needs me to be pretty hands on. I have hit my limit right now and no longer prepared to just keep being used as a stop gap for the companies poor lack of preparation. They have had 3 months to sort it out, I have had the discussion that the work I currently haven't isn't even what I was employed to do!

I have always ended up getting stuck with too much work and funnily enough was the reason I left my last role, I swore I wouldn't ever be in this position again…yet here we are 😅.

I do think there is better ways I could have managed certain things but I will definitely not be taking anymore works on without some stuff being removed

Today has been a decent day, and managed to have a productive but tiring day. Tomorrow is a very quiet day planned

Ah finally the weekend, glad that week is over. It has been semi productive, today was a write off pretty much as expected. However following a few emails resurfacing and reminding of committments I had made that I had forgot about, I have sat this evening and managed to clear my inbox of what was built up - flagged what I know needs actions and also made a list of projects I know are coming up. Whilst seeing the list and flagged emails with outstanding actions is daunting at least I know what I have to do now.

On a separate note, there is potentially a route opening into another role within the industry that was unexpected but something I am tempted to at least explore. I will leave that is for another day though, hoping for a nice weekend but we don't really have much planned.

Last night I have started to get the emails of stuff been increase - broadband, rent, council tax is the immediate hits. I have gone through and totally revamped my budget so interesting to see how that works long term. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Happy Saturday. I forgot to turn off my alarm this morning so ended up been up early which I didn’t mind. I kind of like my peaceful morning before the chaos endure when the world is awake. So I had a brew and caught up with F1.

My work sorting last night as given me a clearer idea of what I need to focus on. Although 60 flagged emails, 50 open maintenance jobs to plan and deliver and 30 individual tasks seems a lot right 😂. However having that clarity now has to help

Also watched three episodes of stranger things so only got 5 more episodes left until it’s done.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, the rest of today will be chilled and then tomorrow we’re out shopping.

Glad to read this and glad you are recognising it cant be done and also the toll it takes on yourself and your family. In your last posts you've been thinking about work on a Friday night and a Saturday morning. Thats not good.

Please don't be like me (and it sounds like your previous self too) struggling on thinking if I can just get this piece of work done, if we just get this task finished, if we get this month over...then next month/task/work will be easier. 5 years I said that to myself, my teams, my colleague doing the same job as me said it to themselves, their teams, we said it to each other and our teams said it to themselves but we actually should have said NO. And just simply not done it. Management would have been forced to find solutions instead of lip service while the 2 of us gradually crumbled trying to be the barrier between uncaring management and them. We made ourselves ill, were not pleasant to be around in our home lives etc etc.

    NO.

Its a complete sentence and we should have used it.

    Don't be like me !

It is a constant topic of conversation with my colleague, in that we seem to be the only two in the company whose role covers everything! And it's getting frustrating. It gives me a good level of income to allow a really good standard of living (although I feel I am not really maximising that at the minute). I need to switch off to be honest but not always easy

I have managed to avoid the urge to log on ha. tonight will be a relaxing night and then tomorrow shopping so should be a good chance to switch off the work brain.

Another one here who struggles to switch off. I sometimes wish there was an actual switch that I could press to turn the work brain off. It’s been on my mind all weekend - another weekend shadowed by work worries and it hasn’t achieved anything at all!

I really hope we both have a better day today before we’re back at it.

It does tend to be difficult doesn't it @Dakota_Rose but you are right it also doesn't generally achieve much either. I have managed to put the work stuff out of my mind today, I hope you have also managed to do so.

The focus has been very much on the finances and trying to eek every bit out of the budget as possible. The food budget is higher than I would like, or more to the point probably not as efficient as it could be. We very much rely on convenient foods far too much and I would really like to change that. As reckless as it may seems it isn't the money element that bothers me, its knowing that we could be eating a lot better and healthier if we put in the efforts. We used to have like 20 meals or so that we as a family liked lots and we would have a few of those meals each week on rotation and then have a bit of convenient foods thrown in but life has just seemed to have got so busy.

We need to change a lot of our habits both financially and in other ways too. We used to use Aldi and home bargains/B&M but over time we have become lazy. It is so much easier to just do it in one place but that I guess isn't the best way when trying to save money.

I have also started to get back into listening to financial podcasts and YT which I did when I was in an hole and needing some motivation, I need this again.
