I’m impressed with the full year’s car insurance payment being ready to go. I have never afforded a year up front but have never really minded it being a monthly payment. Definitely something to think about though.

Hopefully a relaxed weekend for you too 😊

The weekend was exactly what I needed tbh, I just relaxed really and tried to rest up

It’s been good to be able to pay the insurance in one go and I was same it never really bothered me paying monthly but then I got to a point where I wanted to reduce what was coming out monthly as much as possible. Last year it saved me about 120 this year about 90.

Happy Monday all, hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a relaxing one and it was lovely. I’m also expecting a less intense week work wise ( let’s see 😂).

The food budget was a little bit more than expected but we’ve enough to cover a few weeks so in long run might work better. I do not like the food shopping experience one bit lol.

I’ve not really got much planned this other then potentially doing more decluttering

hope everyone has a good week

Happy Wednesday, today has been one long day. It’s been a planned day off to go to an hospital appointment with little one the appointment over ran by two hours, we then went and had a sit down meal. I also woke up with a long anticipated ear infection so had to sort antibiotics for that. So today has been a mix of planned and also some unplanned expenses. The eating out budget soaked up the meal and the buffer we leave in bank covered parking, a coffee and antibiotics. I’m just looking forward to today been done. Nice soak in the bath and an early night in bed I reckon. Budget is holding up so far and today I discovered my Monzo has been updating spending onto a google sheets for over two years now which I didn’t even realise now that would be interesting data 😬🤣

My financial goals at the end of this month are to get totally rid of the remaining £50 overdraft facility on my account. I will also look at getting rid of some of the CC that are open but don't have any balances on, I will likely keep one open but they have all been removed from my apple wallet as it is too easy to use. I am wanting to be in a position where credit isn't used as a sticky plaster. I need to not be reliant on it being there.

The first few months of this year have felt like a whirlwind in all aspects really. Financially we are coping but we are coasting and have become very lazy with stuff so now the MOT / Service is done and the Insurance is out of the way it is time to really knuckle down and focus. Right now a lot of monies are going towards the big holiday which we booked as like a treat. Once this is done we need to get serious about finances again before it just spirals out of control. The attraction tickets are paid in full so that's a good thing, 3 payments left on holiday itself and then spending money.

From a personal spends standpoint I have cancelled my gym membership , I am totally not using it so why keep it there. There's a few subscriptions that I need to look at and see if I can just lose them for a while

Work wise I feel like I am getting there, but still struggling with the workloads, although last couple of weeks I have found coping mechanisms. Another 2 key ppl within the team leave at the end of the month and I am the only one who can do their work….when I politely asked my manager if the work they leave will be temporarily living in the same place the works that the other person who left 8 months ago live.. it was met with a probably!!. They currently live on my desk 😠. Not really sure how long it is sustainable to do more work at a good standard whilst doing the work of 3 ppl.

Health wise, I need to get an handle on this. I am constantly tired, constantly lethargic and probably a miserable person to live with right now.

I need to re-assess my financial goals, budgets and what we do with this. At the moment it is sustainable however should I lose my high paying job we are very much not prepared (although I think that not likely right now). We have a good income and are no means struggling but I do feel we are getting to a point where an intervention is needed to halt some of the more expensive stuff we have got a bit used to. It isn't really like us to be honest but yeah choices to make

Argh what a grumpy update…sorry! Here is to tomorrow :D, this will be a pretty busy day but the Friday should be a pretty chill day.

Wow, they are cheerfully expecting you to do 4 people's work? That's not sustainable for a week let alone the 8 months you've been doing two jobs. Being honest, if you've been able to properly sustain it then either both jobs weren't actually full time jobs or you've not been doing them properly in your own contracted hours because its obviously not possible.

There should have been a plan started before that person left or at least some time in the last 8 months.

I hope you don't leave this new situation with a throw away amusing comment by your manager because your next sentence "Health wise, I need to get an handle on this. I am constantly tired, constantly lethargic and probably a miserable person to live with right now." suggests you aren't doing well now let alone when yiur current unsustainable workload doubles.

Sorry, I get a bit antsy when people talk about work situations like this - work pays you money in exchange for your reasonable labour 35 hours a week. They have a duty of care to you, you don't have a duty to do sustained extra work like this, its nice be to be helpful and cooperative but you really should be shutting this down BEFORE they leave. Its your manager's job to manage workflow, manage it not just allocate it

I totally agree with @daisy_1571. I’d be requesting a meeting to understand the impact and expectation on your wellbeing and pay.

"Being honest, if you've been able to properly sustain it then either both jobs weren't actually full time jobs or you've not been doing them properly in your own contracted hours because its obviously not possible."

This wasn't meant as any sort of criticism on you ffd, I think you sound a very conscientious worker who would try your utmost to get the important tasks done- to your own detriment rather that to your company detriment. I meant that if you'd had time over the last few months to look clearly at it you would have to agree with the one or the other of the statements. Sadly its workers who have a strong sense of doing the very best, not letting other colleagues down, trying to be helpful to a manager and/or company that get left doing more work and more work.

Ask me how I know !! I let it go on for 5 years and almost had a break down before I got out into another job. One day in tears asking my manager can we get a bit official overtime to get on top of this I was told 'you are only so stressed because you are trying to do a good job'. Twenty years later and I'm still not sure what do with that comment 🤔. Was I being told it was my fault and I should knowingly leave tasks undone and go skipping home carefree and not worried about them?

Anyhoo, thats a tiny bit of my back story and why I'm quick to jump on cases where I think people are colluding in their own downfall by blaming themselves instead of putting the management of overwork issue securely back in the managers lap where it belongs. Dont be like me, speak up sooner than I did ffd
