Hope everyone had a good Monday. My day was pretty busy, I had the day off to do some hospital appointments that partner didn't want to do alone. This was the end of a long road with trying to get the little one the support she needs. By midday I just felt a massive energy crash and then felt wiped out for the rest of the day :( - we had opticians and then had lunch out. We also managed to get the food shop completed. This managed to come in under budget, but that saving was then wiped out by needing new glasses for the little one.

By 6:30pm I was in bed and asleep, hence been wide awake now…I did totally switch off from work so not really sure what to expect when I get in. I do have a few urgent tasks I need to sort this morning so they will be the priority…hopefully. I will go through my open projects and go from there

We also had to buy new school shoes for the little one, but this did come out of the sinking funds for school stuff so no impact on budget really.

Halfway through the week 😊. Yesterday I ended up been as tired as I expected 🤣 the morning was a bit manic but day ended on an high. After a chat /interview I’ve been given the new internal role and this should start with immediate effect once contract is signed. It’s an opportunity I’m looking forward to and it does also come with a pretty huge salary increase ( which I wasn’t expecting tbh). I need to work out my handover and see how that’s going to work.

Last night we started another new series to watch (well new to me and little one) so we will work our way through that.

Petrol was topped up yesterday and due to how much travel I’ll be doing this week I will need to put more in shortly.

Any salary increase or unexpected extra we eventually settled on a percentage basis focusing on whatever our priorities were over the years. For us it worked better than deciding afresh each time. At various times it was a third to mortgage, a third to house projects and a third to a savings plan, then 25% mortgage, 25% retirement, 25% house projects and the last 25% split into 12.5% to each of us into our own pocket money accounts.

Thank you for all the kind comments. It is definitely a change I have been waiting for, I must admit I thought I had misheard them when they said the salary 😂 but it also comes with a lot of challenges so it will be hard work too. The initial handover period I think will be the hardest part, and I have now been given a start date of 7th April. It doesn't help that I have probably got about 13 jobs to deliver in with that but I am keen to just try get on with the handover toughness and move on.

I am determined to ensure the additional salary does get shared out equally across our responsibilities but savings, pensions will be on the agenda and at the risk of sounding non MSE I do also want to put a bit into living life as well.

I like that idea @daisy_1571, I guess I don't want that lifestyle creep to come in but selfishly I do really want us to do a bit more as well as a family. I think the job in general can be stressful so I do want to relax when I can too lol
