  • My Natwest switch seems to be going ahead, the Chase app says that the account will be closed in one day.

For RBS, I asked for a switch through this form https://www.rbs.co.uk/current-accounts/switch-your-bank-account-to-rbs.html after creating my RBS account. I selected another Chase account to be switched from. But I haven't heard back anything from RBS and the Chase app doesn't say that the other account will be closed. How come the RBS switch doesn't seem to work?

Do I have to switch Natwest first, and then RBS, because both are switching from different Chase accounts? In that case, I should wait before paying in the £1250 to Natwest until RBS has switched and then pay £1250 into both at once?

  • I'm now up and running with mobile banking for all 3 accounts Natwest-RBS-Ulster, and switch date is the 1st of March for all 3 Chase accounts. Silly question perhaps.. do I need to wait for the switches to complete and only after that transfer £1,250 to each account, to satisfy the incentive condition? Thanks.
  • @anoukis the offer terms state "pay £1,250 into your eligible account within 60 days of switching". I'm going to wait until the day after the switch completes to do this. Remember also to keep the funds there for at least 24 hours.
  • My accounts have transferred, Barclays to NatWest and Chase to RBS. However, my NatWest account says it has no DDs, there were two on the Barclays account. Is that something peculiar to NatWest does anyone know?

I don't think NatWest show DD's until they actually pay out.
  • Switch completed today paid in the 1250 last week left it there for 48 hours now waiting to see when the money gets paid in.
    Other switch completes tomorrow

I think you have to pay in the £1250 after switch completes, as today was your switch day, not sure even that would be counted... I'd personally put in the £1250 again tomorrow & leave it another 24 hours just to be safe.

Being too eager, I just received an email and text confirmation of switch to NatWest, which does say DDs will show after first payment.

    Thanks.
  • Hi everyone! I just opened a second Chase current account and I'm using this to switch to RBS. On the process of the application/switch, RBS is asking if I have a debit card. If I put the debit card number that is within the app, will it cancel that direct debit and hence my main Chase account won't have a debit card?

I do remember switching to Natwest and I think it was in 2019, but I might be mistaken. The problem is that the account I switched to likely has been switched again :( so I am not sure I still access to statements... what would be the easiest way to check? It looks like there is nothing in my email, so maybe switch confirmation has never been sent. Was there any switch incentive between September and November 2019?
There was an incentive running in December 2019 as I did it, they did the payout in January 2020 about a month after the switch

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
