now just wondering how much trouble I could be in for potentially not updating v5c. Hopefully tickets aren’t enforced because of this error!!! all I can imagine is a stern judge really unhappy with that and making me pay because of it :(
A penalty of up to £1000 from the DVLA.

If you end up in court, I'm not sure what a judge would think, even if they knew about it, and I don't see how they would. It would not be directly related to the case so I wouldn't think it would be of any significance even if they did know about it.

I married my cousin. I had to...
    I don't have a sister. :D

A logical assumption, I’m just operating from a place of being anxious and thinking the worst which is the last thing needed at this point. Fingers crossed no court and “appeals” are accepted.

If you go here https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ you can check when the last V5 was issued.

When you click on to log an appeal online this address can be found at the bottom of the 1st page.
And be aware you may still receive further pcns dated before you informed dvla that you sold the vehicle which you would need to also appeal/provide proof to PPC you sold the vehicle.

Thank you for finding that email. I will send all appeal correspondence to that email address and copy myself in to make sure emails are sent.

Noted I may get even more PCN's!!
  • Can I ask is there a time limit for when tickets must be sent after the supposed parking violation or can they be sent whenever?

Also, just to demystify the whole potentially going to court process (will again re-read the threads about this too)...IF that happens and I get a county court judgement and it goes not in my favour, would I just be liable for the full costs of every ticket given to me and court fees? There couldn't be anything recorded on my credit score or any surprise fees?

Thanks again everyone. This has been on my mind far too much today, but you all at least hearing me out and offering guidance is so reassuring. Big thanks.
  • If you were to lose the claim in court and a CCJ is issued against you, as long as the CCJ is paid in full within 30 days, n record of the judgment rains on your file. It will be as though it never existed.

Ultimately, most CCJs end up being for less than the original claim because the inflated damages/costs/interest are not supposed to be allowed in claim on the small claims track... unless unreasonable behaviour can be proved.

Much appreciated @Debszzzz2 thank you for taking the time to explain it. Fingers crossed it doesn't reach that (:
  • gosh what a palava!

Found the logbook with the new keeper section missing and a post-it note stuck there saying 'posted xx.xx.xx' day after vehicle sold. Clearly it was just popped into a post box instead of sent recorded or with proof of postage.

for the life of me I can't recall ever getting acknowledgement from DVLA that no longer keeper, so looks like this must have gotten lost. also never chased them for this because again, I made an assumption they received it and that was that?? if there is ever a DVLA fine for not updating keeper in time I will have to take it on the chin and pay I suppose?

used receipt of sale to fill in new keepers details online and backdated to date of sale on receipt. am now waiting on DVLA to write to me to confirm this is done and no longer keeper.

three tickets sent to zzps as NPM said 'the time frame to submit a request to transfer the liability of a notice is 28 days from the date the notice is issued. As you are now outside of that time frame and keeper liability has been established in accordance with Schedule 4 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012' but I got back to NPM as soon as I could with sales receipt etc so will do as forum says and safely ignore zzps.

I have replied to every ticket sent. just waiting on the many other tickets i appealed and what they will say!!

After visiting forum again, as I was not the owner or driver of vehicle at time (and in fact nowhere near vehicle), I didn't agree to their parking terms and conditions so I surely cannot be held liable?
