PCNs from NPM & letters from ZZPS for sold vehicle!! Unnecessary anxiety ):

Options

Hi all! What a joy MSE forum is, I’m in awe at the wealth of information in the newbie sticky thread alone and thanks to all the contributors who share their knowledge and assist, you’re all so valuable and helpful!

I’ve spent the weekend trawling all sorts of threads on here. Shame I bit the bullet last year and paid Euro Car Parks for a ticket but you live and learn!

I’m posting to get some clarity or reassurance that I have done/am doing the ‘right thing’.

As much as I read again and again that nothing can be done by these leeches…I suffer from anxiety and unfortunately when a worry is on my mind it plays in a loop…which it has been doing and it’s caused far too much indigestion and many a sleepless night which is not needed!!

  • 2023 vehicle sold
  • Late 2023 I got sent a parking ticket from NPM National Parking Management Limited for vehicle that was sold. As vehicle was sold, it took forever but I managed to trawl through paperwork and find sale receipt. Sent this off to NPM albeit a few months late in early 2024.
  • 2024 more parking tickets arriving?? Got two more this morning!! I WAS going to once again collate all these tickets and send proof of vehicle sale, but I’ve done that once already. I don’t want to do it again?
  • THEN, ZZPS letter arrives. I call them and let them know vehicle was sold. They say they need me to provide proof of sale and proof from DVLA and that account is on hold until they get that.

Now, this is the thing…I don’t want to give them that. I’m sick of looking through all this paperwork especially trying to find that little slip from DVLA that confirms you’re no longer the keeper. (Totally off topic but I’ve also had someone clone my plates recently so as you can imagine I’m really overwhelmed by all that is currently going on.) I already gave the proof of sale for the first ticket I got to NPM and I think it’s this first ticket that was sent to ZZPS due to how long it took me to find the proof and reply back. I’m not sending these details again and again.

Do I need to reply back to the remaining parking tickets from NPM to once again send proof I sold vehicle?

Do I need to actually send ZZPS proof of vehicle being sold?

Or do I just ignore, ignore any further tickets and ignore any further ZZPS letters?

If this did make it to court (which honestly I can’t see why, I have proof of vehicle being sold long before dates that tickets were given, it's just my thoughts mutating to the absolute worst now) would I be held liable for not providing the evidence of vehicle being sold, especially when I called up ZZPS to let them know I’d sold the vehicle? This is not entirely true as I did actually provide evidence of vehicle being sold with the first parking ticket.

I’m sure you can see how my anxious thoughts have spread like wildfire. The vehicle isn’t even mine anymore and surely was not when all these tickets were issued and yet I’m concerned about how I will defend myself in court, how my credit rating will be affected etc!

A lot of questions, some which you may not even be able to answer, but I would appreciate anyone even taking a gander over my post and chiming in. I think hearing from those who are well versed in this and much more knowledgeable will provide some relief to the panic I am unnecessarily feeling.

Thank you all for even entertaining this post.

Did you send the V5 back with new owner details or do the change of owner online when selling?
Or simply give the V5 to new owner?

  • @born_again I think the slip was given to the new owner as that's what I've usually done when selling/buying a vehicle. Get the little green slip and send it off.

Plan A is a complaint to the landowner and your MP.

As a matter of urgency, you need to inform the DVLA that you are no longer the registered keeper, otherwise you risk getting a real fine of up to £1000.

Debt collectors are powerless and can safely be ignored. The fourth post of the NEWBIES explains this.

You should send proof of vehicle sale in response to NPM for each and every PCN.

Therefore if the purchaser did not apply for V5 and you did not inform DVLA then it was (is??) still registered to you which might explain some of the problem

Was this car sold to a dealer as P/X for another, so you have proof or a private sale where it is going to be a lot harder to prove it was sold?

@Fruitcake thank you I’ve read newbies thread I made sure to read it before posting this as I can see you all get a lot of questions and queries. Your thread about Parkingmaiden and kindling for your fire allowed a chance for laughter this weekend so thank you for that too.

I will continue to send proof of vehicle sale for every PCN that comes in. I’ll make copies of everything and send recorded delivery. I take it I shouldn’t send anything to ZZPS?

Will also get in touch with DVLA re no longer owning - I think I can email them to request proof of no longer owning vehicle.

I will contact the DVLA to see if they ever received this and if not, as fruitcake mentioned I will get this sorted.

no it wasn’t sold to a dealer but I do have an invoice of sale which I kept as proof of it being sold.
