Ok with the imminent release of the new student accounts for this coming year, i.e. october/september, they have been released from certain banks.
Natwest has an offer very similar to last year and some of the other Banks have put together their offers etc.
So i am most likely to go Natwest, however, does anyone know when the papers, Martin or any site may have an up to date comparision of what is on offer for this year?
Cheers
Ian

So what is Natwest offer?0 -
But as everyone says it is not just the frivolous gifts that they give away, i.e. HSBC i do believe are giving away a cheap (tacky) mp3 player. Although the railcard does seem best for me, with me going to durham (i live in shropshire) and will save me a lot of money! Natwest also have free call centres, can call branch etc etc.
Natwest has consistenly been the best with their rates, and overdraft limits, i will pop into branch and have a word with them. Also it is possible with Natwest to extend your overdraft free (i.e. a larger interest free overdraft!).
Finally normally there are clauses to say that to get this offer you must pay in your student loan, or be your main account, or you are not able to have similar accounts open at other banks.

darren, you mention that natwest are offering a 5 yr railcard, have a look and find out whether or not they are offering a cash alternative.
i no for a fact that last year they were offering a 5 year rail card or a cash alternative of £55 when you deposit £500 into the account-thats if you dont want or need the railcard.

What are you going to study, to which College are you going?
bet you cant guess where I am
I originate from Stafford so pretty close to Shrop :beer:God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
Lol, well i am going to St Mary's College
, and going to study General Engineering;
My guess of where you are at... St Chads?
Anywho what are the actual residents like, as supposedly there is an area where no student dare treads :P lol
Moving on...
Also i believe the cash offer for the Natwest Railcard (if you don't want the railcard) was only available if you applied online, this year i have looked but can't find any mention of it.

Thanks for the update Andrea.
I was guessing something would come up soon. Will save me a lot of work and time.
I only have 5 more exams to go yay!!!
I'll wait for the article as the majority of accounts have a clause for you to only have one 'student account'.
