Just a quick question - is there a limit to the number of students account you can open? I'm very good with keeping my finances in order and wouldn't mind 3 or 4 £1k+ interest free overdrafts to bung in an online 5% savings account. Is this a) legal and b) sensible?

    Thanks everyone.

I think alot/most of the major banks make you sign a form or contract which will not allow you to open up another student account with any other banks. This use to be possible in the past I heard but they have gotten wise now :( By the way any more news on that new HBOS package? Website still seems to be showing the old details.

If you are likely to finish your new course later than the date you gave the bank re your original course then it would be in your best interests to tell them as you will get an interest free overdraft for that amount of time. :j
If your end date is not changing then I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't know if this is the right place for this question but my daughters due to go to uni in Sept tried to get a Halifax HBOS account as recommended but was refused. Why can this be? Should she try again or try elsewhere? Can she get a credit check to see if there is anything odd going on? She shouldn't have bad credit so WHY?

I've just tried to apply to Halifax account and was refused..........

I got this message when applying online:

"We have considered your application and are unable to offer you an account. You will receive a letter from us within the next few days giving further details."

As Hallifax won't let me have an account with them I'm going to try HSBC. Trying to decide between the 10 free CDs or £50 cash. Anyone know what the 10 cds apply to? Is there a limit to the price, as some cds are more expensive than others.....
