Perhaps he meant smokeless coalQrizB said:400ixl said:What do you mean by at the pump? Where are you in the UK?OP spent the last few days complaining about solid fuel and asking where to buy house coal, the sale of which is banned in England. So I can only surmise that they're in Wales, Scotland or N. Ireland.0

There's been some cold weather so the price of heating kerosene often goes up (supply vs demand).
The price of Kerosene has been steadily increasing I note via fueltool : around 70p/litre ex 5% vat today. Pretty sure it was well under 60p/litre before Christmas (?56/57p?).
Mind that's for bulk delivery of 500 litres (min order).0

What do you mean by at the pump? Where are you in the UK?True, but you'll be paying the full rate of tax and VAT on that - heating oil delivered in bulk has a lower rate of tax and VAT.It does seem very odd to be buying heating oil "at the pump" - not something one would normally do except in an emergency when you've run right out and need a small amount to tide you over until you can get a bulk delivery.

Here in rural west Wales, Boiler Juice are usually around the price most others quote, maybe a penny or two dearer but certainly not the differential you cited.I guess it may depend on where in the country you are and the time of year, but I've always found BJ to be massively more expensive than local suppliers - to the tune of 20, 30, even 40p per litre more than buying direct from local firms.10/15 years ago BJ used to be broadly on a par, perhaps just slightly more expensive, but in the last 6 or 7 years I've given up even bothering to look at them for a ballpark figure as they're so ridiculously over-priced.0
