Cloth_of_Gold said:I've decided I'm not going to worry about the ethics of washing up pads; I haven't got the time or the energy. In the general scheme of things the environmental impact of my use of them it's close to zilch. I'm about as green as I can reasonably be I think and I increasingly look to make ethical choices when spending money or in my daily living, so a plastic washing up pad thrown away a couple of times a year isn't going to trouble my conscience. Most of us do our best, but each of us has a breaking point. Last year I took two internal UK return flights because the rail ticket prices were absolutely astronomical - well over £1k for the pair of us because Belovéd joined me on one of those journeys. That cost is out of the question. Did I try to find affordable options - yes, for months. Belovéd and I are as green as we can be most of the time but there are limits. (I also support a political party that wants the rail network taken out of private foreign profiteering hands, so I'm tackling the stupidly unaffordable rail ticket prices from another angle but that's another story.) In the grand scheme of things, as Pigpen so ably put it, all of these choices are a balancing act - we do our best and live with it.A friend managed to track down some Seville oranges so yesterday I made the first batch using a Nigella recipe - outstanding results. The second batch is in the pan right now.Massive listy of things to be done this week, starting with several jobs that must be done today. Back later with results - if I do any more than make marmalade. Most of us do our best, but each of us has a breaking point. Rubbish and recycling now out and Poppet had a walk in the sunshine for nearly an hour. Had some off lead time too. DH has prepped lasagne for tonight while I was out so there's now a huge pile of washing up to tackle.Spend less now, work less later.9

Odd things done today so far:_Hoovered half the house, cats hair, I really hope they are not starting their spring shed, as it is far too early in the year.Emptied baglass thing, cleaned flitersFire done, ash out, logs inKitchen floor done2 council bins out at end of drive for collection tomorrow. All inside door hinges WD40ed, as one was squeeking.Deer and cats fed, birds can clear up the odd seeds lying around.Been looking at where the strawberry patch 'should' be, it seems the strawberry runners, have done just that and run, to the corners of the patch, so I am thinking to dig all the strawberry runners, herbs, odd plants up, completely dig over that area, put back any thing that look alive/ decent, then plant spuds in the rest of the area, as seed spuds are out in the local GC, I think that calls for a trip to local GC to see what they actually do have. The sun is out, but the wind is cold........Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

What a difference a day makes - more specifically, a sunny day makes.
I have pottered outside, even had my coffee out in the back garden (fleece and body warmer on, admittedly). Having conveniently forgotten last year’s allotment produce disasters, I have sown some seeds (chillis, peppers etc, not getting too carried away), unearthed my propagator from under the many treasures in DH’s man shed, and pulled a load of ivy for the green bin. Let the game begin!
However, I might have forgotten to turn on the wm so that the towels could take a twirl outside. Can’t win them all.
Yesterday’s mega-flying means that this afternoon is being earmarked for sorting out cards for February birthdays which all, most inconveniently, fall in the first 4 days of the month. Of course, I could do the dusting instead, which I also conveniently forgot about yesterday. Nah.8

OH has emptied, washed and filled cat trays. He is wittering about going to the shop for a cider making kit and to buy milk and bread.. I suppose he could get another stew pack and I could throw it in the SC overnight.. I wanted to try it out in the airfryer though but I can't. He wants me to go with him but I want a cuppa and have laundry shuffling to do.

            Hi all
All DS windows cleaned inside and out. The tops of the kitchen cupboards have been wiped down and I have washed the utility room mat and the big throw off our bed.
DH has repaired the fence as best he can, it needs more work, and is now washing the greenhouse. I was hoping he would also clean out the fire.
I am feeling a bit out of sorts and can't be bothered to do anything else now.9
