My stepdad used to be a bus driver...I once discovered, by talking to an aquaintance in a pub who, it turned out was also a driver for the same company, that his nickname, at work, was 'wrong way George'. So there you go...
Lines full of washing. Door company phoned with door sizes. Repeat prescription ordered.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Golly, you early risers put me to shame...but I'm often last on here at night so hopefully it balances. Anyway, with determination that I will achieve more today:
- one load washing on the line. The wind is 'brisk' but the sun is out and the birds are singing.
- did a marathon lot of washing up (or so it seemed). So an environmental question: what do people use to wash up with? I have just reluctantly, after a year without them, bought more 'scratchy sponge' washing up thingies. Yes I know they are nasty plastic. I have tried their bamboo replacements (ok but not scratchy enough for pans), brillo-type wire wool (ok but too scratchy for some things), a brush (gets full of grot) and a sponge on a stick (ok but still the sponge bit is plasticky). Sigh. Oh well, I've just not contributed to a flight this week so please allow me a pack of scratchy sponges........trying not to think of the sea creatures that might eat them.
- had a good clean of the sink and washing up bowl. Dishcloth (cotton!) is in bleach.
- filled bird feeders. Don't forget the RSPB bird count this weekend.
- have returned to my helpful (when I remember it) "don't leave one room without doing something to improve it" so the recyclable waste from the container in the en suite has been put in the recycle bin, the container is in the DW, the box of coffee grounds which sits by the kitchen sink has been put on the blueberry bushes.
- I've done a bit more of the report and I've just made myself a coffee (miss that coffee icon/emoji thing) so I can do some more.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
I use scratchy sponges too, Narco. Not happy but something scrubby is sometimes called for; even though I have a dishwasher.

I occasionally need green scratchy pads and use them until they’re worn completely down to stop myself feeling too guilty about the plastic element. What I’ve discovered is that they can go in the washing machine when they’ve grim, so I really do use them until they’ve finished iyswim.
We no longer use plastic handled w/u brushes but it was a heck of a job to find wooden handled ones. When I did I bought a big supply of them. I put them in the dishwasher when they’re vile and that sorts them out. Beloved likes a w/u brush; I love jcloths.
Huge congratulations Soapie on the debt busting. I hope it gives you a shiver of pleasure every time it crosses your mind.
1 load out on the line. It’s a beautiful day here, like May.
Better is good enough.8 -
I forgot to say well done too Soappie, I am a bit behind you on the debt busting front but very happy for you.
I have never found anything cost effective and environmentally friendly for washing up either.
So today was a workshop thing at work with 7 people who I only vaguely know. I was supposed to have been asked to get some information ready to present to the group but the message didn't get to me until 2 hours beforehand. Not a problem I chirped, I can do it! Why do I do this to myself? Cue massive anxiety not helped by the fact that I am still feeling under the weather. And breathe.
Oh and on Monday I am at a meeting at another site and have to give someone a lift. I am anxious enough driving anywhere unfamiliar without a complete stranger sat next to me.
So.. home to eat fajitas made by DH, change into my scruffs and curl up under the heated blanket. I have a lot going on at work next week so I need to rest up this weekend and kick this cold into touch.
Oh but I will fly a little too.
