@YORKSHIRELASS definitely rest up!
I'm also in the plastic scourer group. I have seen coconut /coir ones, but never tried them. I use the sponge things on the stick, but I do feel badMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

I use the coconut ones and have done for a couple of years. I have a plastic brush to help shift the worst of stuck on stuff, or a good soak first, but the coconut works well I find. One great advantage of them is that they are antibacterial so they don't smell, and if you can compost them when you've finished with them. I use Safix brand. They aren't cheap, but so much of what is environmentally friendly isn't cheap.

Evening all. I've had a busy and productive day - and we have had sunshine and blue sky from dawn to dusk, but with the clear skies (and a big full moon) it's feeling quite cold now.
- sorted a few ancestors before breakfast
- S&S'd kitchen and bathroom
- PUPA in the LR, DR, utility and my bedroom (which included making my bed)
- FUPA clean washing
- WM/TD x1 - although I should love to be able to hang it out, my shoulder is too painful atm
- ordered some lever arch files for the ancestors and a small storage unit for DH's ensuite from the Jungle (NB: I am not going to store DH in it - he wouldn't fit - but he does have his own file! )
- paused a regular order for eco-friendly dishwasher tablets and laundry capsules that I don't need in February as I bought extra before Christmas
- moved the study book shelves up and down and rearranged the contents again, so that the heavier books are now lower down and therefore easier for me to reach
- decluttered from the hot drinks cupboard in the kitchen a teapot that we never used (I still have another in my Portmeirion collection, if we ever need one) and from the utility a pale green glass vase that I was very fond of, except for the fact that it is too easily knocked over because of the small base
- refilled the bird feeder
- put away all the outdoor Christmas lights except for the set which I have to repair (the cable is partially broken where it comes through the window frame and gets squashed)
- asked DH to hoover all through downstairs (which he did )
- made myself a packed lunch
- drove to a meeting which was gloriously short and simple
- did a bit of necessary shopping at M€rry H€11 (in particular, I needed a birthday card for my goddaughter), took the vase and teapot to the Air Ambulance CS, then ate my packed lunch in the car, in the sunshine, before going on to...
- ...Action Heart: I did 1h 40min exercise, which wore me out
- on the way home, bought milk, bananas, ham and eggs from MrAl and picked up my prescription from our local pharmacy
- drank a cuppa made by DH, then fell asleep whilst watching Pointless
- woke up in time to cook our meal, send DH off to wargames, and WULTD
- watched Mastermind whilst drinking coffee and eating scones and jam - brought on by the first contestant's choice of specialist subject: the history of baking.
So a number of things have been decluttered from my to-do list, and I'm looking forward to an early night. Rosie is already snoring!
Sleep well and have a restful weekend, if you can xxx8 -
@Honey_Bear and @YORKSHIRELASS thank you both for your congrats and kind words.
My debt-free status is still sinking in... all those years with the associated stress of outstanding debts and wondering whether the creditors will come after my house or not was something that niggled away at the back of my mind constantly but not anymore! I think it may take a little while longer to really sink in and feel v. secure but that's just psychology I guess.@Valli, I managed Wordle in four today – it was a bit of an odd one… I don’t do Connection…
@Honey_bear Re the scratchy things – I use the Spondex sort of wire wool which is better than the yellow/green sponge but not as harsh as the old-fashioned Brillo pad!
Flying wise, today I stripped my bed and changed the sheets. Did another WM and TD sess, and have put some stuff on the line to dry which will stay there until later tomorrow as it's set fine for the night. Paired up socks and rolled up underwear and now have an ironing basket that is so full, it nearly reaches the ceiling. That is tomorrow morning's job....
I hope you are all well xxx

Ionafan I'm exhausted just reading your list!
Thanks for all the washing up tips - seems I'm not the only bad person. Planet-wise, I scared myself by watching The Day After Tomorrow this evening - one of my favourite films but golly, made 20yrs ago and politicians still aren't making much effort.
I'm not sure how much flying I've done since this morning's effort - just bits and pieces really after doing Body Step.
Had a couple of short message conversations with Mr N this evening which was a nice surprise as the internet on the ranch is even more iffy than ours. He was sitting outside in shorts after the evening meal.......
I've just gathered my swimming stuff together....unlikely to be as crunchy tomorrow!
Have a good weekend everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
well my two lines of washing dried well enough air/iron as appropriate. i’ve stripped and remade my bed including duvet cover (i use a top sheet to reduce duvet cover changing) so WM and DW are primed. I am much amused …DD is in Iceland and has discovered the hand knitting association of Iceland and do i want any wool?
I still haven’t done todays wordle…Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear9 -
Evening everyone. This morning I took A to the bank and then we went to a pub for a drink then stopped off at a couple of local shops on the way home. Made lunch, washed up, did a few emails and somehow it was time to make tea. Washed up again, went down and got the post, which didn't arrived until 4.30. I had something to sign for but they just put it through the main door (not our door). Fortunately I saw the two postmen get out of a van and deliver post to nearby properties, which prompted me to go down and check whether we had anything. Before I knew it, it was time to make supper and wash up again then I rang my brother, did the evening eye routine and put out A's breakfast things. I'm sure I must have done a lot of other things as I seem to have been busy all day but I can't remember what they were.I use these for washing up (which I do rather a lot of as you've probably noticed). https://uk.e-cloth.com/products/wup-washing-up-pad Looking at the material, perhaps I shouldn't. The soft side feels as if it's made from cotton but I see it's made from polyurethane, which is a form of plastic. I really like them though and they last ages but.....

I have a scrub mummy sponge which is used for scrubbing down the icky pans.. it also goes in the DW/WM/sink of bleach. I normally use neat bleach and a microfibre for cleaning.. the pots go in the dishwasher.. if I burn a pan (and the inside of the oven) I use a brillo pad (cheap unbranded version)and I think of all the things I do not use plastic on and am at ease with my choices.. you can only do what you can and beyond that I have to wonder if it becomes a trade off on nature now for nature in the future.. when the manufacturing/transportation process is more than the planetary saving.. buying a bit of wood grown on the other side of the planet or some metal ore dug out of the ground, smelted and formed and shipped over to this side of the planet, as oppose to a piece of plastic sponge squished to the size of a credit card manufactured a mile or 5 up the road flung in a landfill.. one goes in the ground the other has massive amounts of air and sea pollution.
I'm pretty certain you can buy sponges made of compostable stuff.. whether they last more that 5 minutes or manufactured in Asia I don't know ... * trots off to google *THESE.... no idea how effective they are.. and These... but this is the trade off.. 14.5hours on a plane and the fuel/pollution involved..Workplace Transparency - The production facility is based in the Pollachi, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu State, (India) where the minimum wage is 8000INR per month. The artisans are paid on average of around 16,000 INR per month. Double the minimum wage of the state. They work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. They are off on all holidays.Packaging - Comes in a 100% recycled unbleached Kraft box, printed with Soy Ink, which is 100% recyclable. This product is 100% plastic-free.

Morning all
I am still in bed. Coffee has been drunk. I am not going to go to my Saturday volunteering as I am trying to rest. I have pressed the button to start the DW.
It doesn't look a bad day weather wise, might put some washing on and hang it out.
Thanks for the info Pigpen I have also used SM0L but not really sure how eco they are.8
