Evening all
@Pigpen – hope your allergies settle down soon. Excellent news about Squeak casting the walking stick aside… xxxx
@fayolle – I too hate washing the car (and also don’t have the ability to do it physically anymore) so I take mine, every so often, to the nearest drive in car wash (last time I went there, it was manned by Kurdish people) and sit in it while they do it. The £15 (includes a £1 tip!) once every three or four months or so is well worth it and I'm fortunate I can afford it for now.
Hugs @flamingo, that’s an awful situation to be in – I hope you manage to resolve it. Xxxx
@Valli – glad your stamina seems to be coming back xxx
Today has been a good day. I did a load of ironing, dusted the living room and swept the floor, refilled the indoor log store. Also am in the process of making a loaf of bread ready for tomoz.
Had my lovely GD this morning for a while as is usual on Saturdays. She is just such good company and a joy to be with.
Lemon chicken with mash and veg for dinner tonight which I'll start cooking in a bit - DS requested, in very good time, if it could be nearer 9pm so I am happy to accommodate him given I had a late-ish lunch..
One thing I do have to ask though, am I the only one who, when preparing carrots, peels an extra one so I can chop it up and eat it bit-by-bit whilst the rest are cooking? I just love those cold carrot sticks!
Have a lovely evening peeps xxx

Today was largely social. Woke up to frost, which was rather a surprise, but sunny. Had a nice swim with friend but finished a bit early as she was very stressed having to deal with the incompetent communication in the NHS regarding her dad's recent op and aftercare; I hadn't planned to stay for coffee at the lake but poor C was so stressed I thought it might help her to talk, so I had a quick hot chocolate. Then whizzed back, quick change to meet a former work friend for ......a coffee and cake at a nearby garden centre.
Came home, had a chat on the phone with my Mum and later, my brother.
Had the rare luxury of a hot bath with a book as, despite the lake being 6 degrees above what it was last week, I hadn't fully warmed up.
Just finished the report. Tried sending it but they have a new "extra secure" system which won't allow emails from anyone outside the uni system. So me, a contractor, plus numerous students who might choose not to use their allocated academic email, are barred from contacting the uni. My manager has been trying to sort it but they keep saying that MY IT department should sort it..........I have pointed out that I am one person and do not have either an IT department behind me nor do I actually have a degree in IT. All fun.
Now I think it will be a hot drink in front of the TV. Oh yes, I had a stern discussion with my TV/recorder which did not want to record the Musical Theatre festival..........I think I beat it into submission but I will soon find out if I have anything to watch.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

I've decided I'm not going to worry about the ethics of washing up pads; I haven't got the time or the energy. In the general scheme of things the environmental impact of my use of them it's close to zilch. I'm about as green as I can reasonably be I think and I increasingly look to make ethical choices when spending money or in my daily living, so a plastic washing up pad thrown away a couple of times a year isn't going to trouble my conscience. Not much flying done today - just the usual cooking (does that even count?) and washing up. Popped to the shops this morning for a few bits, had a 2 hour phone call with my friend whose 89 year old father is in hospital (he's now got a c-difficile infection to go with his pneumonia, which he had before whilst in hospital, as well as covid and the sepsis which took him there in the first place). My brother is now on antibiotics as he has had a cough since November. If they don't clear it up the GP will consider sending him for a chest x-ray.Did some research into the best probiotic supplements. I have been taking a probiotic drink twice a day for ages and believe that I have had benefits from it but am thinking of having one with more 'good' strains of bacteria in it. Internet research takes such a lot of time though, doesn't it.A's breakfast things are now set-up and I'm about to do the last of the 3 night time eye meds.8

TD and DW and both WM's on again.. another load hung up.. I almost feel like I did something today.. thats nothing short of a miracle given how little I have done the last month.
I have a parcel to package up tomorrow.. and more laundry.. there is so much it is taking over the world. The girls at least have clean uniform for Monday.. I have to bath everyone.. and tidy the front room for Monday when I have the 2 small grandbeasts.

Oh.. I have found 3 jobs OH absolutely WILL be applying for tomorrow.. at the council so I can get him out of the house.. I like him working from home but he is getting cabin fever and he hates the job.. He is on about having a gardening business when the money from his mother comes through.. but that is very seasonal and unless he works every hour God sends from March to October we will never manage.
Anyway.. I'm off to my nest.. bickies in the tin and ovaltine in the urn! .. Blast from the past to follow...https://youtu.be/jqlDvpDAlU4?si=v8QkOn1l8UCjYaBo

Morning all
I am awake and almost functioning after 11 hours solid sleep. My sinuses still hurt but the congestion is easing a bit.
Pigpen DH is a gardener, has done it all his adult life first working for a garden centre then on his own. There is no shortage of work and you can make a decent living but as you say it's seasonal and it can be really physically demanding. Message me if you have any questions xASB we are a bit like you in needing to do some work on the house and not having a huge amount of money. DH is not well either so not earning much. We need to get a builder to price up repointing the chimney and do some other small jobs. It's a worry.
Hope Sunday is kind to everyone, I have no idea what our plans are.9 -
Morning all xx
Woke up at a more civilised time: 7.45am. I'm up, made my bed, completed Connections, can't get on Wordle, and supped my first brew.
S texted me yesterday asking if I'd like to go over for coffee this morning. I'm aiming to be there for 10.30 ish. P has his angiogram tomorrow so is no doubt anxious. I certainly would be. I'll try to take his mind off things for a couple of hours.
I'm going to have breakfast and sup brew 2, then

I dreamed about my Geography teacher*. Again. I haven't laid eyes on him since I left school in 1978. For years I had a recurring dream that I was looking for him. The night I dreamed that I found him I expected the dreams to end. Nope. More dreams. Last night I dreamed I told him that I'd loved him since I was twelve as I stroked his face. Oh well. It's not hurting anyone I suppose. Except when I wake up I feel like I've lost something precious. Crazy. 🤯
Hope everyone has a good day.

ETA * we were on a school trip by coach to Shrewsbury! I've never been to Shrewsbury in my life. My dream self said it was where Cadfael lived. Was it? My awake self thinks it might be 🤣IT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme7 -

Good dishes and calming vibes to P and S (and you!) for tomorrow xxx
Hope everyone has a restful day xxx8 -
Morning all.
Round you've really made me laugh again. And reminded me of a very young teacher we had who we all thought was a sixth former when we first saw him.
Anyhow, today DH woke me early due to his having manflu so I have made apple crumble, done most dailies except putting rubbish and recycling out, had a long soak in the bath, put dry washing away and started to prep for DGD2 arriving for her sleepover later.Spend less now, work less later.9 -
@roundtuit that cracked me up. I often dream of a friend from school I fell out with in 1998 and haven't seen since. Its very odd. I also have lucid dreams, where I know I am dreaming and can then control it whilst staying asleep. Usually it's triggered by seeing old or foreign coins in my dreams. Dreams are weird.
@Cloth_of_Gold hubby takes some H&B probiotics after switching from the drinks, and gets on well with them for his IBS. He switched because taking the drinks on a flight would have been too much of a pain
I've done barely any flying at all today. The good thing about doing some every day through the week is that it isn't too bad if you miss a day! I do need to wash up thoughMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
