It should be from the date IS stopped, or the day after that.

From memory, the ESA3 form has a box right near the beginning for “date of change” so you should be fine on that front. Plus I’d add it explicitly in the extra information / additional notes box at the end for good measure.
    Many thanks for that
It has put my mind at rest......as it seems it may take while for the form to arrive, and I need it to be dated then due to to the HB

  • You could pop into your local JCP and ask for one? Annoyingly you can’t tend to find copies online anymore as they’ve removed a lot of legacy forms from Gov.uk to avoid confusion etc.
  • Oh thanks for that
I've googled where mine is , its in the next town along.
I assume I just go on in and ask for the form esa3?
I've not been in one for a long time, as I have been medically unfit for work

    Thanks
  • Yep exactly that - if you’re passing or that way I’d just nip in and grab the form (make sure they give you a reply envelope too).

Many thanks again, very kind of you
  • No luck at the job centre for the ESA3 form

I have found a very old form from my old paperwork files, possibly 2013 onwards as it says ESA3 10/13.

Has anyone got a copy of the NEW/Current ESA3 form, that I can compare it with? I have seen a pdf one from 05/18

As if its the same format and information, I am tempted to fill that old one in and send that in asap. I just don't fancy waiting that long to do it.

Side note ....as you know my partner closed his Income Support claim the other day, as discussed kindly by poppy12345 it would be better long term after pension age . Does the SDP stop with that as well, until we are back on an INCOME related benefit like the IR ESA ?
Just when I fill in the ESA3 form I want to give the correct benefits info. Like myself CB ESA and DLA, my partner CA /PIP
    Then SDP or NOT ??
Obviously it will take a while for the DWP letters to come through so thought I would ask

    Thanks a lot

This is the only recent one I could find. esa3.pdf Yes the SDP will stop because at the moment there's no Income Related benefits being claimed.
  • Perfect.

    Thanks for that Poppy12345

I will check through and if they are exactly same, If its not here by a certain time I will send the older one in just to get it done

Also thanks for the info the SDP, I will know to not to put that down then since from when we closed the IS claim

Appreciate all your  help and guidance through out this
  • Just a bit more advice please.

Now I have done the ESA3 sent and they have got it ok and are processing it, I phoned up to check they had it and any update as they got it 15th Feb. There seems to be no sort of timescale for it to be done as such..... he randomly said 4 weeks but unsure if that it is accurate

My question being, as you know we closed the IS claim for my partner now with that comes the Housing Benefit We have had no letters from the Housing Benefit Dept  at all to say that they have closed the claim or any correspondence at all.

I have no idea if they have paid any of the rent at this stage. I obviously do not want to fall into rental arrears as this will cause more problems

Side note its the time of year when our rent will go up again an no doubt we will be getting the Section 13 as normal

I do not really like phoning the landlords as it sometimes is like opening a can of worms.  They are large business landlords and own lots of properties and bought this one as an investment . We keep contact to a minimum when we can. We pay an excess every month as its more than the LHA  and this is paid on time every month.

Should I just phone up the landlords and ask if any monies have been paid and when ?

Our local council HB dept are not the best so not sure whether to phone them or not. And also to explain to them that they need to keep our claim open as I am in the process of the IR ESA as well as CB ESA would be unreal to explain on the phone, they only just deal with the increase in rent every year and even then I have to chase them up

Should I write a letter to the HB dept and explain to them this is what we are doing ? With the print outs of the rules etc

I just want to the right things in the right order.....any advice on peoples thoughts would be grateful
