We bought a 3 seater settee and an oversized chair and pouffe from DFS 3yrs,3 months ago and "for comfort" these days it really wasnt a patch on what it was when we bought it, In fact it was downright uncomfortable though it still looked good. When we looked through the paperwork we noticed that we had a 10 year guarantee on springs and the frame, so we had a representitive come out and see what was what. He agreed it was poor, and though our particular problem (we didnt have springs, lol, but loads of tight rubber band type things) wasnt covered by the guarantee he agreed to have everything lifted to be fixed up. They loaned us a sofa over this period, which does the rounds as a temp apparantly and needs a good clean if you get it!
Anyway.., our settee etc is back, and its fantastic again, just like new, it wont last of course, but we will have another couple of years out of it, so I would recommend anyone unhappy with their furniture in this situation to do the same.

Putting an item for sale at its full price for 30 days then slashing the price in all stores is standard practice within the retail world. I happens all the time. Just that it mostly goes un-noticed. I am not advocating this practice, just putting it in perspective. Retail laws are laid down and the retailers are very clever in circumnavigating them. Scam, you might say. Scam suggests illegal. Its not. Underhand......maybe....

We bought a leather corner sofa from DFS on saturday.....
With cash so not worrying about PPI and that side of things. But we got sucked in to paying for the leather care kit and 5 yr cover for £160 which is meant to cover all accidents etc.
Is the extra cover really worth it?? Is the aftercare good enough to pay the extra?!
Also - they said 12-14 weeks delivery. Are DFS good at delivering earlier than expected? Really want this sofa now! - so impatient...

I worked in a Call Centre for 2 years and worked close to a well known Finance Company. The girls on this section complained that most of the irate calls were from D F S customers protesting that they were paying for very poor quality items with no redress.

I have recently bought a sofabed from DFS at Mansfield road Derby. On the day of delivery, the delivery man scratch my wall on the way carrying the softa to upstaire leaving several long black marks on my wall. When I asked the delivery man about it, he said it was unavoidable. I called the company several time. They always said their manger was busy and would call back. But they never did. After few weeks with numerous calls. Someone call Mr Derbyshire call back. Instead of apology, he started to critise the paint on my wall. at the end make an ridiculous offer. They will paid for the can of pain If I show him the receipt. I am really angry about their attitue. This is the worse company i have ever met in UK in customer service. I will never buy from them again!!!!
  • Dear All,

I had a appaling experience with DFS sofa. Please read in detail and if you have suggestion, please e-mail me at gigaspeed123@blueyonder.co.uk

After moving in to the new house, i have done lot of shopping for the Sofa and with the Credit, and quality of sofa in the show room, I felt, even if that say 0% credit, i thought even if they make some £70 -100 /- exces that is worth with free deleivery. At last I orderd Sofa in May back Holiday.

Main spec i looked for is cushon to be firm as I suffer from occational backpain.

after 7 weeks, sofa is deleiverd.
I had serious issues with Cushon :

It is not firm at all, it goes in immidetaly after sitting. In the back and places we do not use it is not leather. I paid 700/- i would say, it is not even worth 350/-

Reported problem to customer service and they do not accept the problem. After long argument, they say, they will send an Somebody to verify it. I really do not have great hopes on it. I am worried, I have to live with that nasty product and boody feeling of being cheated in the living room everyday !

NEVER EVER BUY IN DFS for any reason. Please advice if you have any suggestions how to deal with this argument. Shoroom verson is not in display anymore!

I am always surprised when I hear disgruntled comments about DFS. I must be really really lucky. I bought 2 leather settees 4 years ago from DFS for just over £1500, I went in and basically wrote my own interest free deal with them. I started to settle their finance 6 months after delivery, over 2 years and so got the nonsense out of the way with the '4 years interest free credit' they try and sell you.
The suite was delivered on time, a couple of months later I discovered a fault whereby the arm of the settee was coming away and they came round and completely rebuilt the settee for me, as they admitted it had not been put together properly. About a year later the same thing happened with the other one, they did the same again, no gripes, all completely satisfied and suite is still going strong now, it's got plenty of life left in it. People still compliment me on it in fact. It's also extremely comfy! lol

That by the way was DFS in Oldham, perhaps other stores are just not so user-friendly!

I've recommended the store to other people and they have had similarly good experiences too!

    I ( secretly ) recorded a phone call saved me about £100,000.

OT but isnt it illegal to "secretly" record phone calls?

I thought you had to make the other caller aware that the call was being recorded?
