I bought 2 3 seater leather sofas from DFS 3 years ago that were not in the sale, never had a problem. After reading so many negative posts on here about them i keep waiting for them to fall apart but they haven't. They've not sagged or given or gone creaky at all, had no problems with the dye or the actual leather (it all matches), no fading of colour, nothing is falling apart. They were even delivered on time, had no arguments with them at all. Am I doing something wrong ?0

I love it! DFS = Dog's First Sofa. :rotfl:
I got conned by DFS as well, and now I have the Curse of the Sofa Bed
I can not find anyone who will take it away without charging me more than £50 - Not even the Council will move it as it weighs a ton!
I am going to have to try and saw it in to little bits in the lounge.
Does any one know if the DFS Metal Action Sofa beds are easy to disassemble so that I get the curse out of my lounge?
I am off to buy a https://www.nabru.co.uk they look good.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -
I've managed to get rid of the DFS Sofa!!!
You tip it over, remove 4 bolts from the Sofa Bed part, remove metal work and then saw the wood frame into car boot size bits for the tip. Job Done.
Moral of the Story, Never buy a DFS sofa.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -
We ordered our sofa's during their "Double Discount" sale at the begining of Jan. We were told it would be about 8 weeks for delivery. Within about 5 weeks had call from DFS saying sofa's were ready for delivery. We thouht excellent!!!. They delivered the sofas and that's when the problems started. We had ordered a 3 seater, 2 x seaters and a 1 seater. One of the 2 seaters was with the scatter back cushions and the rest were formal back cushions.
On delivery we noticed the single seater was ripped on one of the back corners. The black under cloths for most of the sofa's were ripped/damaged in one way or the other. The sofa's had wood trims at the front which were damaged and one of them was completely the wring colour. Mentioned this to the deivery guys and they said not to worry, to ring the store and they will sort it it all out. That evenging we checked the sofa's properly and noticed that the formal back cushions on all the sofa's were smaller(in width) than the sofa's, eg. on the 3 seater there was a gap of almost 5-6 inches between the back cushion.
So the next day I rang the DFS store to let them know of all the issues with our sofa. The person on the other end of the phone seemed very uninterested with the actual issues and just said they will send someone to inspect the sofas. This person came and made notes of the damage to the sofas and said all that can be repaired/replaced. However he said there was no problem with the cushions as they need time to "settle" and the gap would disappear over time. There is now way we were going to except that, how someone be expected to pay nearly £2000 for sofa's and expect not to use them properly straight away.
So when I mentioned this to the store manager he said that they will send a senior upholsterer to check this out and also at the same time fix/replace the other bits. The senior upholsterer turns up but only with half the parts for the replacement stating "the other person had ordered the wrong parts". As for the issue with the cushions, he agreed they did not look right but will now have to get the manager to come and have a look them.
Manager and senior upholstere turn up for the inspection and this time the we are told the cushions are as per spec and over time they will settle. I said to him that this should have been explained to us when we were ordering the sofas. Also that the pictures they had of the sofa's (formal back) were perfect, they did not show this gap at all. BTW they only had the scatter back cushions on display, NOW I KNOW WHY!!!! To the the manager says well the cushions are "dressed up" for the pictures!!! Talk about dodgy selling tactics.
We have now said that we do not want the sofa's and they need to take then back to which the manager readily agreed, however he did try to persuade us to choose something else from the store. I WILL NOT BE DOING THIS.
ONE THING IS FOR SURE WE WILL NEVER BUY FROM DFS AGAIN AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TO DO SO EITHER!!!
The problem is when they take away the sofa's we won't have anything to sit on as we got rid of the old ones when we got these new ones thinking all the issues will be resolved. What can we do, can say that we will keep these sofa's until we find and new set ?
any ideas???0 -
Go to Argos buy some deck chairs and praise the heavens that you are going to be shot of this rubbish. Then look up Slot furniture or Nabru on the web, that's where I have just brought my replacements from. (no i don't work for them) just that they offer a unique product. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

we ordered a 3 pc suite back in april with a delivery of the first week in june to coincide with moving into our new house, we chased up the week prior to be advised it wont be ready for delivery until 25th june and now today have been advised that again its delayed until the 7th july to say we are fuming is an understatement, my question is what are our rights to cancel as we have purchased through the finance offer nothing for a year then 36months interest free.:mad::mad::mad:
would appreciate it if someone knows where we stand.0 -
Just think its out of order that an order placed on the 19 march for delivery on the 7th june, which we specified due to house move date as salesman advised we could have it earlier. We are now looking at a five week delay from the date we expected this furniture without any notification about delays from DFS, to say we are unhappy about this is an understatement.:mad:0

You can cancel any order you want, they said a delivery date and failed on 2 occasions I beleive that to be unreasonable and a perfet opertunity for you to get out of any contracts you signed.
Phone Duff Furniture Shop and tell them to cancel the order and any agreements and issue you with a refund for any money paid. Also contact the finance company and tell them the same thing. I would also follow up your phone calls with a letter sent recorded delivery to DFS and CC the letter with a covering letter to the finance company giving the reasons for canceling.
Good luck0 -
I recently heard an amusing story about the owner of DFS. He lives near Doncaster and for years he had been annoying his neighbours with late-night parties, complete with loud music and fireworks, and the landing of his helicopter in the middle of the night. When the opening of the new Robin Hood airport was announced he tried to get these same neighbours to object to the scheme because planes would be flying low over his house. Not one neighbour came forward to complain, because they wanted him to get a taste of his own medicine. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
