Your magnolias are beautiful and the colour sets off so well against the dry stone wall.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

What a magnificent magnolia. I’ve been very tempted by the ones in Lidl! but realistically know I shouldn’t introduce another tree into our back garden as I’ve recently had to pay to have a couple of trees removed.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

The magnolia is stunning. I adore them but refuse to buy one because they look so gorgeous for such a brief time if the weather gets them. Then, I see your photo and immediately want one somewhereMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -

Thank you all. I got the picture at its prime, lots of pink petals over the garden now. Blossom on various trees which is lovely to see. Most pleased to see signs of growth on the wisteria last night - a couple of flowers forming at the top and lots of green growth at the bottom so it is alive despite the serious damage we had to inflict to get the scaffolding up. It is tree trunk thickness and at least fifty years old so I would be very sad if it doesn't recover eventually.Yesterday's efforts involved weeding and then shifting furniture out that no longer serves a purpose. Today I need to check if the sofa in the garden workshop is recoverable before I book the bulky waste collection as you have to specify up front what they are to collect. The challenge there is that I can't get in to the workshop as I shoved an erect tent through the door five months and three weeks ago because I couldn't work out how to fold the tent that Mr Redo had left up on the lawn. Worst case is a hack saw, assuming I can find one. Getting access to that workshop may help with the house clearing depending on just how full it is. It is the serious woodworking kit (wood turning lathe etc) so bulky stuff that I will probably need someone specialist to come and buy but that is of no interest to any of the boys or his friends so a simple exit. It is a sizeable log cabin where the contents of the garage could go while it is refurbished. My not so little darlings have promised they will tackle the lawn today. While they are doing that I will so what I can remove from their bedrooms into the recycling piles or the big bin.I of course have done too much again, and have to remind myself that ignoring my joint problems is not the answer. Ibuprofen gel is a wonderful thing and so am grateful that it is affordable and effective. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

yes epsom salts baths work well for me @doingitanyway
Huge amounts of clearing and rehoming going on to make best use of the additional bins and recycling opportunity. Real spots of emptiness starting to appear which is a huge improvement.
Gardening limited to watering. I did do some clearance work on the long west facing border which is mostly bare of plants. Overgrown shrubs and very little else. Mr Redo liked it overgrown as it backs onto the dry stone wall on the church side so people couldn't see in and his hammock blocked the afternoon sun so I mostly haven't bothered with it previously. I will need to remove his hammock, still strung up between the ancient apple and pear tree. This might be one of those sensitive things that upset others but so be it.
