  • Don't know what your thoughts are on all things holistic & complimentary, but when I suffered a condition that was causing me some grief and GP couldn't do anything much to help.....apart from suggest pain killers, which were useless, I tried massage, Reiki and at one point, hypnotherapy. Can definitely vouch for them all, if you can find some good therapists in your area.
I'm very interested in complementary treatments but have only tried Reiki which didn't help unfortunately. I haven't tried any others because I haven't had the money to pay for it but maybe I might have to look into it now. The Fibromyalgia is manageable with the techniques I was using from the Curable app and plenty of walking . This hip pain is something else and doesn't respond to anything I've tried.

You’re definitely on a roll there OBL.
I so get what you mean about leaving silly little jobs…☺️
I'm glad it's not just me😊 I am a terrible procrastinator though so I'm not surprised. I find it really annoying be don't seem to be able to change 🤷‍♀️

I'm currently looking at a small pile of stuff on the sofa. It's been there for a few days. Why don't I just tidy it up? It would take 5 minutes.
    Nods in recognition 😀

I finally did it today. <3 In fact I've a mega housework day so everything is looking much better. It's just a shame it doesn't last long. If only things stayed clean and tidy for a few months it would be great, but in no time at all everything needs doing again.

Re your leg, does your GP have one of those systems where you have to ring up at 8.00 and hope you can get through before all the appointments have gone and if they have you have to try day after day until you get lucky? If that is the case is there an urgent care centre near you that you could go to (not an A&E)? We have one near us and they have GPs there that you can go and see and you don't have to be registered - it's just a walk-in. Alternatively, are you in Benenden? If so, you can speak to a GP through them.
Yay we'll done 🎉🎉  I like to keep on top of mine if I can so it doesn't get too out of hand. There are jobs I do every day so in as the floors and I make sure my kitchen and living room are tidy before I go to bed because I don't like coming down to a mess. I now have the hoover and the other filter to clean so tonight I swept the floors so I didn't have to do it 😀

Yes I have to phone at 8.30 and hope to get an appointment. To be fair they have always seen me pretty quickly ( or phoned ) it's just that they don't know what to do about it). The last doctor decided it was best to increase my antidepressants as I was feeling achey and I just didn't have the energy to say I wasn't actually a little bit achey I was in agony and having trouble walking. I had had to go up my stairs on all fours that day. It's like banging your head against a brick wall. I feel like I've been fighting for some treatment of some sort for years but they just see my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and blame it on that. The gp asked me if I had ever thought of harming myself and I said after 23 years of almost daily pain what do you think.

23 years - that's terrible. Have they done an x-ray or MRI? Or how about a nerve conduction study?

I hope you get your appointment and there's something you can do. I hadn't realised this isn't fibromyalgia pain, the only thing I can relate it to was sciatica that showed in my hip and I couldn't walk normally, but this sounds much worse. I hope can sleep okay tonight.

  • I'm sorry to hear the Reiki didn't help. I do find however, that its something you need to do on a regular basis, every few weeks. As you say though, all these things cost money we don't always have. Hypnotherapy was another thing that worked wonders for me, although I did spend a lot of money on it, back in the day. But it was worth it. Now I find a regular massage, from a very knowledagable therapist, and the odd Reiki session, will keep me going.

Ahhh maybe I need to give it another go. It was sold to me as a on off wonder cure 😀 I think Hypnotherapy could be a good idea because Fibromyalgia is a somatic illness and I have a hard time convincing my brain there's nothing wrong.

No it's my hip that is causing a problem but I'm getting pins and needles and a hot and a hot sensation in my foot so it's probably nerve related . I used to get sciatica a lot and it feels like that but it's in my groin then it goes across the front of my thigh diagonally into the outside of my knee, down my shin and calf then into my foot and big toe where I  get a stabbing pain and the symptoms mentioned above 😟

  • Hi everyone last night I went to bed doused in deep heat and took extra strong ibuprofen and that seemed to work I slept with my leg on a pillow and woke up with no pain. It's been fine all day so I'm going to work tomorrow and I'll see how it is. I haven't made an appointment but will if it starts again tomorrow. I've bought ibuprofen gel today to see if that helps tomorrow if I need it.

Im not sure if this problem is a genuine physical problem or a Fibro related symptom. Fibro is a somatic illness that makes you feel psychical sensations so any pain or sensation in your body is generated by your brain. I'm wondering if this is hurting because I'm now expecting it to hurt because the X-ray report shows bony overgrowths. There is research that shows that lots of people live with bulging discs and other bone joint problems that have no pain at all  while some like me suffer pain that another person wouldn't feel. I've also discovered that most back surgery is a failure in treating chronic back pain which is very interesting. I know the hip is different and if my cartilage has worn away it will hurt but it could also be an abnormal pain response from my brain. The doctors I follow and who's books I read to deal with Fibro are spot on in their methods of treating it. I'm wondering if it will sort my leg out too . I am going to have to speak to my gp about it soon then I can decide how to manage it.

I met my friend for coffee today which was nice. It was a horrible day to do out though as it was pouring with rain and typically the sun has come out now I'm home again.

  • Mmm....don't like the sound of it being sold as a wonder cure. A good therapist shouldn't have to sell the benefits of it, it is an ancient healing technique and having had some more sessions recently when I broke my wrist. I can vouch for it really helping. Its all about re balancing the chakras as well and rebalancing your mental state.  Make sure you find one who is actually registered on the federation website, so make sure they are legit.

  • Like you said, it does sound nerve related. I've got a compressed nerve and it goes down my arm and into two fingers only so they know which nerve it is based on that. You saying it's in your toe would suggest it's the nerve that feeds into that, but I guess it could be the fibro as well. You know your body so hopefully you do get answers and can define what's causing it. Just realised that makes no sense as I've said one thing and then another! 😅

A good night's sleep is always a positive as well!
