Funny how we all like different things. Pearl barley is something I can’t stand. My mum used to put it into soups and the texture just doesn’t do it for me. That said I don’t think I’ve had it since I was little…..I can imagine I might tolerate it in a risotto style dish but rogue bits in my soup like my mum made 🥴
Id definitely go to see occupational health as they are definitely on your side. I remember the first time I was off and had major surgery 19 years ago this week 😳 Work had made a time table of my reduced hours to suit them…..Occy health discussed them with me. I had to have several meetings with them….I had no transportation at the time and couldn’t get there easily so work had to change the hours to suit me. Not sure what would have happened if they wouldn’t do it…..they did reluctantly change them but made it clear they weren’t happy. I left there shortly afterwards.

Something  weird has happened in my house. I was leaving the kitchen this afternoon when I noticed that the door catch is missing from the door. It can’t just fall out because you have to take the handles off to take it out and it’s screwed in, the handles are still there but there just a hole in the door where the catch should be. It’s not in my kitchen anywhere 😳 It’s really bugging me because it can’t just disappear. I messaged my friend who’s husband laid the new kitchen floor and they didn’t take  it off and I’m sure it was there a few days ago.

That's really odd. Have you asked you daughter if she'd noticed it's missing?

How very odd, OBL. We had a couple of ours  replaced a few years ago & the door handles did indeed need to be removed in order to get the old ones out. What a mystery!

  • Hope it turns up!

Just catching up on you. Glad you had a lovely Xmas. I was laughing at the superstitions because it brought back memories of my mum and Nan with their superstitions 🤣 Nan is Irish and seems to have one about everything. I remember putting some new shoes on a table once at her house to show her them and she jumped up like a cat next to a cucumber (if you've ever seen them videos you'll know what I mean) and swiped them off the table scolding me and freaking out simultaneously about someone dying now. 😳. Now I do it without thinking to my kids 🤣

I hope you get work sorted. Ironic that matron chose a career in caring for people but neglects to care for staff they work with. My Nan was a sister in a ward and I remember her moaning endlessly about a matron ....seems you need to be quite hardened / lost empathy to reach matron levels 😳🤣

I’d forgotten about the shoes on the table superstition….my mum was the same. Even new shoes in a box 😀
