I didn’t end up going to my mums on the 2nd because I felt ill so went back to bed for a few hours. I woke up later and still didn’t feel great but I made myself get up. I didn’t do a lot just watched some YouTube. I went back to bed at 11ish and slept until my alarm woke me for work.
Work wasn’t too bad but I was on the ward again and struggled a lot. I helped the surgical team for an hour before I went home doing the admissions so did do something useful. I finally got my return to work done with one of the sisters and I had a quick chat with my boss about how I was getting on. I told her I was struggling and that I would like to be moved to a permanent position in outpatients so she said she would look at it, she didn’t seem against the idea and my team lead said there’s no reason why they can’t do that as it will free up one of the others to be on the ward. It’s the new matron who seemed to have a problem with it, I was supposed to be in OPD yesterday and she moved me to the ward which didn’t make sense 😡🙄 I chatted to Dd today and she told me to go back to occy health and get them to put it in a report as a reasonable adjustment so I’m going to do that next week if my manager doesn’t sort it out. In the mean time I am saving like a lunatic in the hope that if I have to leave I will have a couple of years wages in the bank to tide me over until I can find a little job somewhere. I also told her I wanted my phased return to continue until the end of January which she agreed to.I also got a letter from the Rheumatologist yesterday saying he tried to phone me on the 2nd but I missed the call because I was asleep. He wanted to let me know that the CT scan shows I have scarring in my right lung so that is probably what is causing my breathing issues. He thinks it’s due to Covid and has reffered me to the respiratory team for further tests.
After I left work yesterday I walked into town and did the shopping I was supposed to do the day before, I did it mainly in case the weather they forecast stopped me going out over the weekend. I wanted to be able to stay at home and not have to go out for anything if I felt like it then when I got home I got a message from DD2 asking me if I wanted to meet in town today so I ended up going out anyway 😀it was nice to see her though. I bought a couple of books with some of the Christmas money my mum gave me and some bird seed and that was it.
I started reading my first calendar book yesterday evening and it was so good I finished it when I got home today so I’m two books into my challenge and it’s only the 4th of jan 🍾🥳🍾🥳 I also chucked a load of dark washing on when I got back today .Tomorrow I am at home all day unless I fancy going for a walk which depends on the weather, it is currently absolutely chucking it down so if it’s like that tomorrow I won’t be going any where. I am also taking my Christmas decorations down which I really don’t want to do because they look so cosy,I will miss my tree when it’s back in the loft 😩😩I will then need to dust and hoover so the house will be getting a good going over. I’m making a cottage pie to have with left over sprouts and parsnips plus I’ve got mashed swede in the freezer that will last me four days then I’m making a curry which will last me another four day. I was on Pinterest last night and found a recipe for a pearl barley and vegetable soup that looks more like a casserole so I’m going to have a go at making that at some point, I love pearl barley and Dad used to add it to stews etc to make them go further so I’m giving it a goOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1206 -
Funny how we all like different things. Pearl barley is something I can’t stand. My mum used to put it into soups and the texture just doesn’t do it for me. That said I don’t think I’ve had it since I was little…..I can imagine I might tolerate it in a risotto style dish but rogue bits in my soup like my mum made 🥴
Id definitely go to see occupational health as they are definitely on your side. I remember the first time I was off and had major surgery 19 years ago this week 😳 Work had made a time table of my reduced hours to suit them…..Occy health discussed them with me. I had to have several meetings with them….I had no transportation at the time and couldn’t get there easily so work had to change the hours to suit me. Not sure what would have happened if they wouldn’t do it…..they did reluctantly change them but made it clear they weren’t happy. I left there shortly afterwards.January spends - £587.583 -
Something weird has happened in my house. I was leaving the kitchen this afternoon when I noticed that the door catch is missing from the door. It can’t just fall out because you have to take the handles off to take it out and it’s screwed in, the handles are still there but there just a hole in the door where the catch should be. It’s not in my kitchen anywhere 😳 It’s really bugging me because it can’t just disappear. I messaged my friend who’s husband laid the new kitchen floor and they didn’t take it off and I’m sure it was there a few days ago.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1202

That's really odd. Have you asked you daughter if she'd noticed it's missing?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

How very odd, OBL. We had a couple of ours replaced a few years ago & the door handles did indeed need to be removed in order to get the old ones out. What a mystery!

Hope it turns up!
Just catching up on you. Glad you had a lovely Xmas. I was laughing at the superstitions because it brought back memories of my mum and Nan with their superstitions 🤣 Nan is Irish and seems to have one about everything. I remember putting some new shoes on a table once at her house to show her them and she jumped up like a cat next to a cucumber (if you've ever seen them videos you'll know what I mean) and swiped them off the table scolding me and freaking out simultaneously about someone dying now. 😳. Now I do it without thinking to my kids 🤣
I hope you get work sorted. Ironic that matron chose a career in caring for people but neglects to care for staff they work with. My Nan was a sister in a ward and I remember her moaning endlessly about a matron ....seems you need to be quite hardened / lost empathy to reach matron levels 😳🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
