My memory of a superstition was that the ironing basket had to be empty before the bells, otherwise it'd be full all year. I hate ironing with a passion.... Now I have a lovely husband who "enjoys" ironing (finds it meditative), so I'm not bothered!
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I don’t usually was on NY day as my mum used to like the house spotless, the washing basket empty and we always had steak of some sort on New Year’s Day….a luxury. She liked to start the year well in a hope it would continue. We always had a Scottish neighbour with black hair bring in a piece of coal - to keep us warm all year and he left by the back door to take any negativity out with him. He used to do this to several neighbours. I do usually keep the no washing rule although the first footing has gone by the wayside since I got married. I did put my washing on a quick wash at 11.30 this year to make use of cheap overnight electricity whilst I was up to do so. It went in the dryer just after midnight….but that’s the first time I think I’ve ever done anything laundry relate.
Hope you feel better soon… take care and I hope 2025 is kind to you.

Happy New Year. Have you checked the taxi cost with the council? I regularly have to get taxis to and from the nursing home and the 10 minute journey costs between £5 and £6 depending upon the time and traffic. Bank holidays carry a 20% + added cost. Even that would  leave it under £10
Aiming to make £7,500 online in 2022

Not yet but I will 😀 the driver said the price is set by the council. It’s normally about £11 to get to work from the station but today it was a special tariff

That's a lot to pay to get to work! :o

I'm going to try to read more this year - or rather, get through more books as I tend to read myself to sleep over old favourites. I thought I'd start a journal of what I read to make myself read when I'm more awake, and hopefully process what I've read better.

You are very good taking Christmas treats to work! I still have mince pies and Christmas cake and the mince pies are staying in the freezer because they are a treat but not one I want to allow myself every day. I've also been given quite a lot of chocolate coffee beans but however tempting they are, I know I can only tolerate a few at once or I get reflux and/or hyped up. I am sure the things you brought in will help people's day along. :)

Happy New Year, I hope this year is a better one for you.

    Ouch to the taxi fares.

It usually takes me between 1-2 weeks to read a book depending on how thick it is, how much time I have and how much I'm enjoying it. I've seen where some people are reading several a week and wonder if either they have far too much spare time on their hands or are really reading them properly and just skimming them. I prefer to enjoy reading mine properly.
