Your new table and chairs are probably coming from China, by sea. With Red Sea routes closed and capacity in the Suez Canal reduced, last time I looked (admittedly a while ago) shipping was having to go round the Cape of Good Hope, which has increased timelines and costs.
They're coming from Sheffield 🤣 second hand vintage ones ....but I think it would honestly be quicker to come from China I ordered them a month ago lol
In that case I have no clue why they took so long. Unless they were right at the back of a shed somewhere and needed to be cleaned up? Or more likely they were waiting for a van to be scheduled down your way.

Me either. When I ordered the dates I were given were 13th September which I didn't mind as we were still doing the kitchen when I ordered and wasn't sure how long it would take to do. That date came and went and we've only just heard and it's now end of first week of October 🤔.
  • Morning all,
I've cancelled the aqua aerobics for someone else to use the slot. However it was fully booked when I booked mine and when I cancelled there were 6 available 🤔😂 seems lots have decided against exercise this morning haha.
My knee was sore again after swimming last night so I thought I'd give the aerobics a miss as it's the same as last night's session which was a lot on your legs....and I will do a gentle gym session later with DD.
I'm meeting my friend at a career fair at 10 for her son and I will look for DD as she's at school all day. I am also keeping an open mind for myself...

Few house jobs to do later but will take it easy as I'm on my feet all day tomorrow and knee is sore again 😒 - I'm debating a trip to the chiropractor as it keeps healing then hurting and clicking nonstop again. It's stopped dislocating all the time thankfully as that was excruciating pain but it is still clicky. Not entirely sure what's even wrong. Probably just old age. 🤣

DD has slept in. Aqua aerobics also knocked her out! Best go, and give her a lift to school!
  • £7.95 cashed out of survey site, have managed to pass a screening survey for some bigger ones that are coming up so need to remember to log in to do them.
Sent money straight over to EF.

Trying to save all I can in there now to pay for jobs that need doing. Speaking of which, the plumber came out today and will quote on a few jobs we have. Including the one that DP can do, but isn't keen on doing himself. If it is a huge quote though he may have to :grimace: we need these jobs signed off so the house is 'safe'.

I have cashed out £35 on a cashback site, these seem to take a few days to pay across but in the next week I should get £35+£45 from that one paid into my account. I have also got someone coming to collect something I am selling on fb later, but I never include this money until it is in my hand as people can be so flaky on there.

Spent £6.90 on tea and cake out with my friend this morning, was good to catch up as we kept missing each other at work and now she is leaving so we won't see each other very much. She was worried as had got an email that was saying she should have worked a month's notice and was almost having a full blown anxiety attack over it, we looked it up before she handed it in and I am certain as she was in probationary period she only had to give a week's notice. So I did calm her down somewhat and she went off a bit happier (not much). I got home and had another work friend call me in tears on her lunch break and had to spend 20 minutes calming her down and talking her back into work :grimace: hopefully she will be okay. After I spoke to her I had a social worker call about taking over my application to foster....I might go to the gym soon and just switch phone off and have some 'me' time. so much for a relaxing day off. I should have done that counselling course years ago as I seem to spend most of my time counselling people for free anyway 😏😆 at least i would have got paid for the stress I take on then lol.

The career fair was alright, I bumped into about 6 of my students though and ended up chatting with them for ages  and picked a few things up here and there but much of it was apprenticeships for things DD isn't interested in or care work or factory work. But still was nice to see my friend and her son and the students too they are all lovely ones and it was good to have a chat. I am all peopled out for today though now :joy:
  • EF- £297.41- so close!!! I will deffo make it to my target this month if nothing breaks, or needs paying for.

Re the notice there's nothing much an employer can do regarding employee giving them notice.  You can stand up halfway through a day and walk out if you so want.  You might not get correct wages for what you've worked and what you're owed for holiday pay or suchlike on time but other than that the ball is very much in the employee's court.  They are very unlikely to chase you through the courts and make you come back and work.  Some folk worry about reputation but its unlikely most employers would put anything even on a reference.   Unless a very small company, most references are bland, so and so worked here from x to y.

Hope you get a break from any more peopling.

  • Honestly @daisy_1571 I think she thought they had the right to drag her back to work there. She did calm down once I said similar to you. She's not used them for a reference either as she applied for both jobs at the same time so used previous two employers to this one.

I sold the thing on FB, £10 went straight into the diesel tank. 😆 But that's good got us off the empty mark. Made some spare space too as it took up lots of room. So win win.

I'm turning the spag bol into (no)shepherd's pie. I've just had a quick look at food and we have pizzas, jacket potatoes, sausages left to eat so we should be all good for the rest of the week. Might need to do a small top up shop to see us through to weds but I will borrow money from my wages which I now have been paid and pay it back when I get child benefit on Monday.

I've been to the gym. DD told me off for going without her but honestly she has just herself to think of, I thought it best to go early, then do dinner whilst she is there. So that's how it happened...she's not very happy but nevermind. She's also been moaning about how many houses she'd lived in. She's lived in 5. I've lived in 20+. And ds1 isn't far behind my number. I thought five was respectable and not 'gypsy like' as she's suggesting 🙄 doesn't help she has two good friends who've both lived in their house since they were born. Feel like everyone who's spoken to me today has either moaned, cried or just been generally negative to me.

Going to eat my dinner then put a movie on so I don't need to speak to anyone else today. Might even have a G&T or two. I need all my energy saving for my difficult class tomorrow (that has apparently been really bad today). Hope everyone had a good day.

I don’t think five homes is too bad DFW, one of my friends rents privately and they seemed to move every year as the kids were growing up. My DS is now in his fifth home now he has moved in with his GF.
I am in my 11th home.

Thank you @skint_spice she was making out like it was the end of the world 🙄 no doubt it's just bitching and sniping at school causing her to moan about it.
I also did most of my moving as a kid when we were renting in between owning homes. I enjoyed it and DD thinks that makes me even more weird (whatever I'm beyond caring about anything today 🙄😆).

I'm currently trying to get hold of DS1 but I think he's away until Fri. I think him and his partner may have split. She's removed DD and I on socials so I want to check in on him and see what's what and make sure he's ok.
