  • Work was okay.
Rude student was on best behaviour today.
I had an awful headache though and felt a bit nauseous. I hope it's not a bug there's a few off sick with it at the moment.

So two at work in the same role as me have handed their notice in, two more are handing them in next week 😬 I think a few have waited until autumn term to do so as they have been paid for summer off obviously.

I'm at home, laid on sofa and have an hour to myself now 😌. I've been naughty at work again and bought snacks in my lunch. I was really struggling though with Keeping my eyes open so got a sugary drink in a break.

So not a nsd 🤭 maybe tomorrow....
  • Afternoon all, another working week done. Popped to shops on way home. Spent about forty quid hopefully have a few dinners in there for that 😬👀. Money really doesn't seem to go very far though.

Work was alright. I was tired before I even started though so not good 🫣.
Had great fun though taking pictures with students today. And showed one of the new starters how to get to grips with the online reporting system.
Had another timetable for next week, only change is I start an hour earlier on one day (Fri).

Swimming tonight. Not aiming for any amount of laps it's more to just stay in routine of going even when tired. Also have gym booked for Morning.
We're waiting on a call from the garage. Ever since the car went in for the MOT and was fixed it had been driving weird. DP eventually checked it out underneath to shut me up and had to concede something looked wrong. They hadn't screwed something up tight enough 😬 wth.... So it's back in. Hoping to get it back for the weekend but not looking very likely this afternoon.

  • We got the car back and had to travel across the city in rush hour to get It 🙄 took ages.
Anyway they've decided the other side has broken now and that needs replacing (sorry can't remember what it's called) it should all be covered under the warranty but we will see. DP and I are of the opinion the car was driving fine until they took it in to be serviced and MOT'd can't help but feel like they're making jobs for themselves to claim under the warranty 🤔 the car now driving with odd clunky noises.

I went to the pool last night but I was shattered. I didn't do much as had heart palpitations, eight laps and sat in the steam room for a bit and sauna. I was pleased I made myself go though because it means I am sticking to the routine even if I am not feeling it while there. DD has woken with a cold today and I wonder if that's why I was struggling in the gym, I'm feeling a bit under the weather myself. I went to the gym this morning and did some work. In fact did my usual work out and found that easier than swimming.
I've also taken DD to work and given her some echinacea and electrolytes. Hopefully she won't get any worse. I don't think it's helping that she's had to write a statement at school about the bullying going on and feels quite stressed. She only has one friend at school and I think she's struggling a little.
We were chatting this morning about uni applications..she's said she wants to apply to the local one or find a job/ apprenticeship instead. I'm all up for any of the above. She will be staying at home throughout uni or work or apprenticeship so need to factor that in when child benefit stops...she may have to start giving some keep.
    That's a while off though.

DP and I were working on our vision board today. It has things like a finished house on it. Aside from three new bathroom/ ensuites (😅) most of the rest of the work in the house is just paint and a general tidy up, finding homes for things. The last owner did all the electrics. Outside the house needs a new patio where we pulled it up for the extension and a few other jobs (like taking broken doors off the summer house - smashed panes of glass in them) and we've decided to make a small plan that won't cost a lot aside from time.
We also have on there personal things we'd like to achieve. For me top of the list is health, fitness as it has really declined in the last few years. I'm already doing that as I've made a start at the gym I just need to keep it up. 🫣
Right off to have a cuppa and make a small shopping list. Very small focused shop this week to stay in budget for the last third of the month.

  • Had quite a productive couple of hours, having a little break now. I've cracked open the old paint tin (literally cracked it open it was all glued together). Painted the odd bits of kitchen we'd not got round to. I've also painted my spice racks ready to hang this afternoon. And I've cleaned an old frame I had and DP has cut a bit of hardboard to fit in the frame, I've painted it with chalk board paint and that should be ready to hang later.
DP is just putting the last two cupboards in (they are tiny ones that fit around the cooker on the chimney breast so around 25cm wide) he's having more problems with them than any of the big ones 🙈. Anyway they should be on soon.

I've asked if he will put the beam up next over the chimney breast 🤞🏻 ...

And I've sent a video to the cooker seller and they've sent it on to their team who deal with problems, fingers crossed they will sort it out or refund something so we can get It fixed.

We have had a problem with flies the last few days. Tiny fruit flies they are everywhere. Driving us mad. I'm kind of grateful though because it meant a deep clean of the kitchen and the old one and it's what has spurred us on to doing the odd jobs in there today. Silver linings and all that.

We've made a list of absolutes that need to be done so the house is ready for fostering. New smoke alarms are top priority. I'm not convinced the old ones even work any more 😬.
We will also hire a van to do tip runs rather than get a skip. It works out much cheaper just a little harder work.
And also that summer house door that shattered (before we even moved in)
And putting up a stud wall where the old kitchen Is/ new shower room will be. It means we don't have to make anything good until we're ready to and can effectively hide the mess behind there 🫣
..this job list doesn't feel quite as overwhelming as the last one we made 😆🫣. My mission is to do it as cheaply as possible because I'm sick and tired of spending all our money on houses!!

I think you both need a rest apart from absolute necessities. In Scotland the smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are law.

We have them here but they look about 30-40 years old. So will update them all.
We have to do the necessary work or we can't get the house signed off as safe.

Off to collect DD and pop to the shops. Making a nice cauliflower curry tonight 😋

So what’s absolutely necessary apart from the detectors, stud wall & door?

The garden. The guy who lived here before (wood hoarder) filled the summerhouse too full of wood and it came tumbling down and smashed through two double glazed doors 🥴

In the house, I need to check the list they gave us for all the other jobs we were told. It's basically our snagging list anyway. Lots of fiddly little things that should be five minute jobs but end up taking hours. Also need to add some locks here and there.
We'll work our way through them...
  • Morning all,

Quite excited as today DP is putting up the beam across the chimney breast. I'll get the paint out after and finish the painting in that room then (just the chimney breast left to do!)

The kitchen will be almost complete aside from the plumbing which needs a couple of days holiday to do. I can't wait to actually be able to use my dishwasher and sink 🤣.

I had a good sleep last night and feel refreshed today, first time for everything huh 😆.

Anyway. Today I'd like to cook a bulk batch of my spaghetti Bolognese mix which can be turned into whatever we fancy during the week, shepherdless pie, spag bol or chilli...and I've plenty of potatoes as bought a huge sack. So we can definitely see ourselves through to pay day with food.

I get paid in two days, DP end of next week I think.
Our new table and chairs should be out for delivery this week coming. I've been getting delivery notifications all week but every delivery was Xmas stuff. Including some nice advent calendars for DP, DD and myself (got some good deals in boots and cashback via clicking through from TCB and then jam doughnut I purchased vouchers for the total spend).

I have bought DS2 presents but I think it's becoming very apparent to me now that he's going the same way as my sister and mum and will just cut contact and cut me off. I'm really struggling with my MH lately because of this, I guess what I'm feeling is abandonment and it's affecting me because I don't know why they're all doing it/ have done it to me. I genuinely bend over backwards to help people when they need it and just can't make sense of any of it. In the future I might be putting it on my vision board to have some counselling. For now I am not ready to talk about anything as I'm still in processing mode, still too upset to talk long before crying. On a similar note, My best friend messaged me last night to say that my mum had been in contact with her and asked for her to sign her passport forms. Mums not spoken to me in years now. Despite my efforts to speak to her. I feel a bit sad by this. But said to friend if she wants to do it go ahead I'm obviously not going to say anything about not doing it. Friend thought it was cheeky though as she's not spoken to me in all that time for no reason and she didn't even ask my friend how she was just said can you do it? If not don't worry. 😳 My friend has been at the end of my tears and frustrations at being cut off so suddenly and for no reason given.

Anyway, I can hear DP with the drill. My biggest gratitude this weekend has been him ♥️.
Definitely a nsd today as we are very close to going into the red on most accounts.
