I set a goal at the beginning of the year to get my reading mojo back...I've read 8 novels on my phone (k1ndle) and 2 real books. I think I set a goal of 12.
So I'm nearly there! I've got to an evening time lately and instead of watching TV I've wanted to finish a book!
🙌🏻😁 I'm very happy. I used to love reading and I think having kids has just pushed that aside as I was so busy. Two more to go...and I will have done it in a few months.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I'm a long way off my NSD goal 🙈
Not sure I will do that this month.
I've plans to pay the extortionate car loan off before May all things going well.... That's at 11.9% at the moment.
Then try to get my EF and my MOP nearer to their goals before we start another loan -which I don't mind so much because it won't depreciate like a car ... 🙈.
Work today, my most challenging day by far at the moment. I'm so tired I'm struggling to retain anything at the moment and am aware I might be repeating myself a lot. At work and here and home 😆 oops. Hopefully that will get better as it seems to have come on worse since I've been ill.
I will start looking around soon for some cheap scaffolding and we will buy that next pay day to finally start putting some bits in the garden so I can start planting 👏🏻 very excited by this plan... Also need to dig out another plant bed I have decided I want putting in. We've a tonne of humongous lumps of stone we found - from an old water feature or rockery we think - and will use it to build the bed up. I want a round bed so stone is perfect for achieving that, and it will clear yet another area of bed that is covered in stones at the moment (some are so big they must be stopping growth of the trees in there!)
Right best get ready for work. At least I've tomorrow off so can push through today, one hour at a time. - I've also started a calendar marking down weeks now till summer holidays...is it too soon? 😆MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Just catching up. My car is always filthy due to WattyDog and the horse stuff that gets thrown in from time to time. I would be ok with someone spending an hour in it eating triggered an allergic reaction and could we sit outside in the fresh air even if it meant wrapping up warm.
I would never think it rude, heavens my own car triggers my allergiesMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
Given how awful I feel when pet allergies are triggered (& I am a week after and still having issues with swollen eyes) I think if you explain it as such your friend will understand
Great you have your new build to focus onDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Well today we sat in the car and I couldn't stop sneezing
she asked if I had a cold, to which I replied no, I have allergies from animals, dust and hayfever too which all trigger same responses. So I didn't even really need to say anything, she suggested we find somewhere else
that was easy. All that was needed was a sneezing fit
Work was okay. I am struggling so much by lunchtime that I kind of drift through my afternoon in a little bit of a daze. But it was a short day so I was grateful for that. Paperwork all up to date (aside from those missing weeks oops).
Thankfully my doc messaged me to remind me of appointment tomorrow, I had in my diary an hour later than it actually is and would have totally missed it 😏🙈. JPs for dinner. Nice'n'easy
Finally got another NSD. Really struggling with these this month not sure why. But I think it is because I have been disorganised with spending, I could have bought several of the things I have needed and then bought over the weeks in one day in town last weekend. As long as I don't run out of money though I suppose it is fine. I don't have a lot left of my personal spends but hopefully enough to see me through the month. Still got nearly £180 in the grocery budget I think, off the top of my head, and the bills are all coming out as they should be on last check.
DS1 has moved!!!!!! He sent me pictures of his new house, DDIL will join him tomorrow! House is big again- I am not sure how he's managed to get so lucky twice in a row. I struggled with 3 kids in a tiny army house and he's got him and partner and 2 cats in a bigger house! Luck of the draw I guess. Hopefully he will be much happier there now, he's back in England like he wanted so that is a positive, and he's only 3-4 hour drive away now as opposed to 7-8 hour drive. I pray he will be happy.........and now that we have decided on the route we are taking with the house works (i/e not spending it all on garage conversion and putting it into the house instead) I need to talk to him about his cats. I won't be able to have them in my house. i know DDIL father is moving near to where I am right now in the next year, he has cats already, I'm wondering if they could put them up- the cats that is... because although DD suggested I take allergy tablets, I don't want to. I don't like the drowsy feeling, the cat hairs everywhere and it's my home so I politely declined that idea right off the bat.
Okay off to read my new book, It end with us.......fancied reading it before I watched the film. Although always a bad idea as I then compare film to book and usually end up disappointedMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Morning all,
DS showed me around his new house last night on a video call, he seems much happier 😁👏🏻. Removals should be there today with him. And DDIL turned up last night after seeing them off from the other end.
Sent a card already this morning on m00n p1g.
I'm meeting a friend at 11:30 then docs a few hours later so that gives me my morning free. So I'll get up and pop to the shop need some GF bits.
I've made an appointment for my hearing for next month too. I've decided to book in for a clean before getting the hearing test though in case there is war wax or something making it worse? So need to pay for that which is why I've booked for next month so can budget for it. Hearing test is free so I'll book that once I'm in there. My hearing hasn't ever been good, ever since we used to have them tests in primary school I've 'failed' them, but it was never bad enough for a hearing aid. However lately I feel like it's gotten worse so want it checked (and cleaned!)
Sun is out but it's frosty and cold. The roofs are white rather than red and black 😆. So no gardening today for this fair weather gardener. I am hoping it warms up soon.
Will prep dinner before I go out today so that it's done as my energy is usually flat and depleted by mid afternoon. Will also put a wash on. DP hoovered everywhere for me the other day so maybe a quick run with that and that should be ok.
Oh and I started my new book last night and am half way through already! Was going to give it to DD afterwards but it's a little 'grown up' I think 🙈 although no doubt she'll watch the movie anyway 🤔.
