Exciting news DFW, It will be fantastic having the extra space. Our homes are extensions of our lives, family and how we live. It's important that they are moulded so they fit the criteria of what we need at the point we are at in our lives to make us happy. I keep trying to explain this to my Inlaws who live in a wacking great house, loads of land on a hillside (that they can't manage), in the middle of nowhere with no public transport or family nearby that what was perfect for them when it was a family home , with children and good health may not fit their lifestyle now they are elderly and struggling with health issues. I truly believe that our homes have to fit our stage of life to get the most out of what we want.
Sorry that was a waffle1 -
Ah I understand that Penny, DP parents recently sold up their house to move to a smaller bungalow and they love it! I wonder if you can persuade inlaws to have a look around some more manageable properties. Although I also understand moving as you get older gets/ feels more daunting. DP parents were stressed a lot with their move. In fact I was stressed with mine and I'm half their age (almost) 😆.

Work is done. Safeguarding issues after safeguarding issues all day today. Is there something in the air? I was tired before I started and my tired is more tired after all that. 😴😳
Nice easy dinner tonight of JP. DP and I will have leftover risotto on ours and kids can have beans and cheese.
I just had an email from my line manager saying I've had some great feedback on the work they saw me doing earlier 😄 that's nice to hear and nice to have some recognition. I'm not paid much and I try hard to help all that need it so nice to see it recognised.
DP and I are planning on doing some raised beds for the garden next month. I'm really excited. We've already sourced (from wood hoard) corner posts suitable and we will use some cheap scaffolding boards to make them and I'll find some sort of liner to use on the inside (assuming I need this anyway). I've got a tonne of stones to fill the bottom bit in for drainage and will buy some top soil/ compost then I can start adding some plants and greenery! Be great to see some progress out there 😁
Right I suppose I ought to go and do some paperwork as I'm way behind with it all.
Edited to add- payslip is in and no pay docked for those sick days! I think the people I spoke to at work were right they don't dock you if it is a couple of days. I get paid really early this month for some reason so need to not touch it for 10 days! Might move it straight out of my account into savings for those few daysMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I have just lined the base of mine with several layers of brown cardboard. I noticed W1ckes had some good offers on top soil and manure from today. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Remember you can layer logs/twigs/uncomposted garden waste (not weeds, obviously) below the topsoil/commercial compost layer if your beds are deep. It all keeps composting below the surface.2

Oo I forgot to add I still have a tonne of wood leftover for the bottom of these too. So will use that. I also held back a huge cardboard box that some furniture came in for the beds too. I will have a look for the offer at w1ckes as we have one not far from here 😄.
I took myself to bed at 7:50 yesterday I felt like a walking zombie by that point. So went off to sleep relatively quickly and only got up a few times in the night and managed to go back to sleep not too long after each waking. I wore an eye mask which helped me sleep and ear buds. I need another eye mask though one that doesn't get super hot on your face so will have a look about for one of those. I feel more human like today and think I can make it through the day now. Yesterday I could have cried realising I had another day at work before I got to rest..but feeling okay now 😊 going to have a lazy weekend too because my energy is depleted massively. Will do as little walking as I can today at work and try to reserve energy. So many are off sick,.again! This time with a tummy flu thing so I need to keep rested, healthy and support my immune system otherwise I'm going to end up having to leave this job for another because I can't keep getting sick.
Hopefully a NSD I've put some quinoa and half a stock cube on and will throw a salad in with it and grab some snacks so lunch is done..I will also hide away with ear pods music and a book to read for lunch. I've got a plan for getting my energy back...just to implement it now!
Hope everyone has a great day 😊MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. The week is done! Yay! Afternoon was easy, as two didn't turn up (the VERY disruptive loud ones) and morning was long. But...but, it is done. Yay.
Hoping for a restful weekend. MUST NOT do all the housework and wear myself out.
DD brace is causing her a lot of pain and I am struggling with what to feed her as she has an expander on the top of her mouth and braces at the back of the teeth (the front ones will go on later). I am doing curry tonight which will be soft but I will offer her something else if she doesn't fancy it (and I never do this, I've always been a- eat it or starve kinda mumbut this is different.) Need to consider this for next week's meal plan....! Okay off to cook dinner, spent long enough doing paperwork (1 hour) and I am still 2 weeks behind because of my energy levels not allowing me time to do it during the week
ugh...

the extension sounds great especially if DS is helping pay it off. I think getting the experts in to do it well and quickly is a great idea. I did laugh as you said I paid off the loan and next day signed uo for the next one
ON HRT just track how you feel, i changed the first ostrogen gel as it made me feel quite puffy, I am now on my third kind which suits me much betterDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I just need the oestrogen - was put on patches 10 years ago (ovarian cancer so didn’t get a choice of a hysterectomy young) and I supplemented it with soy isoflavines which I still take - I almost overnight started functioning again. Took a few weeks to find out what level I needed of the patches. Hopefully yours is as quick.Sealed pot challenge 822
